Wilmer Heisey, which contained news about member farms and commentary on dairy topics.

The collection contains copies of scores of the Maine Stein Song, correspondence of university presidents and the alumni association, and articles and clippings about the song and its history. The correspondence includes letters written in 1930 from various temperance organizations voicing objections to the song's associations with drinking as well as two letters written by Rudy Vallée, one of which gives a history of the song and Vallée's involvement with it.

William Woodsum was born in 1792 in Saco, Maine, the son of John and Sarah Woodsum. In 1814 he married Rosannah Woodman and they settled in Sumner, Maine, later moving to Peru, Maine. Woodsum was ordained in 1823 as a Free Will Baptist, preaching in about 20 Maine towns. He also served in the Maine legislature in 1833 and was a selectman in Peru in 1834 and 1836.

The collection contains maps, plans, photographs and other materials gathered by Marc Johnson to document logging, lumbering and land use in Maine, especially in areas near the Kennebec River and Moosehead Lake.

The first part of the collection contains a few general files belonging to Mr. Johnson as well as a few records from Hollingsworth & Whitney Company and Scott Paper Company. These are followed by the maps, plans and photographs that make up the bulk of the collection. Most of the maps are blue line print copies of originals with a few original maps also included.

Miriam Colwell was born in Prospect Harbor, Maine. She attended the University of Maine at Orono for a year, then moved to New York City. She returned to Prospect Harbor to become the town's postmaster at the age of 23. She published three popular novels set in Maine: Wind Off the Water (1945), Day of the Trumpet (1947), and Young (1955). Contentment Cove, written in the 1950s, was published in 2006.

Chenoweth Hall was born and raised in New Albany, Indiana. She left to attend the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin where she received her degree in musicology. …

Sweetser, professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Maine, and H.D. Watson, head of the mechanical engineering department. Lyman, chair of the mechanical engineering department in the 1970s, and university presidents Arthur Hauck and Howard Neville. Correspondence, printed questionnaires, photographs, etc. providing biographical information about politicians from Maine for inclusion in Lanman's Dictionary of the United States Congress. Lanman appears to have sent out a circular in 1858 asking for basic biographical information to which members of Congress or their friends or relatives replied. His Dictionary was published in various editions between 1859 and 1869.

The collection contains a daily list of farm chores written in 1866-1867 by an unknown compiler as well as Samuel York's diaries from 1891-1923, outlining his daily activities on his farm. Poultry records for 1907 and 1912-1913 are also found in the collection. Also included are letters dated 1883-1895 to Frank P. York , then living in Manchester, New Hampshire. The letters are primarily from his mother, Augusta York, and his sisters, Mary and Hattie, and discuss family matters. An audiotape made by the donor, Ellen M. This small collection contains William Shipman's files from his participation on various committees and studies for hydroelectric power projects in Maine.

The files are arranged alphabetically by subject using headings assigned by Professor Shipman. The material from his work as a member of the Citizens' Dickey-Lincoln Project Impact Review Committee consists of records of committee meetings, correspondence, and reports which reflect the work of the committee. Some of the correspondence also reflects Professor Shipman's ambivalence toward this work and the feeling of futility caused by a lack of information about various alternatives to the Dickey-Lincoln project.

The collection contains two daybooks maintained between 1764 and 1839 by Daniel Bucknam and his sons, Shepherd and Calvin Bucknam, of Minot, Maine. The books contain itemized accounts of goods and services sold by the Bucknams and reflect the use of trade and barter in their lives.

The first volume was used mostly by Daniel Bucknam, although the inclusion of later dates probably indicates that it was used by Daniel's sons as well. The second volume has the name Calvin Bucknam written on the inside cover and contains some biographical information about Calvin and his family.

The records of 40 small electric power companies later acquired by Central Maine Power Company make up this collection.

Each company forms its own record group within the collection, and companies are listed in the order in which they were acquired by CMP. Records of only a few companies date after their acquisition by Central Maine Power. The earliest acquisition, of the Sebasticook Water Power Company, took place in 1911, the latest, of the Casco Bay Light and Power Company, took place in 1965.

Most companies have only a few volumes of records, reflecting their short existence before being acquired …

The papers prepared for the Moody Beach case include briefs and the court decision, notes, an index to exhibits entered by the state of Maine, and Churchill's proposed testimony at the trial.

The collection contains ledgers and maps of the timberland business owned by several generations of the Webber family. The ledgers include primarily correspondence and financial information. The maps provide information about the family's land holdings in northern Maine.

The ledgers are arranged by the company function they represent: executive, financial and production. The collection begins with copies of outgoing correspondence, 1955-1960, from G. Peirce Webber; much of it concerns acknowledgments of rent received for campsites on Webber land. Copies of deeds, permits, etc., follow, along with a scrapbook of newspaper clippings, 1903-1907, concerning land and lumbering.
