Author's note, page 7: "This article was written some fifteen years ago, on finding that Parkman had overlooked the expedition of 1608, which had also been overlooked by every author of whom the writer had any knowledge. Subsequently, Dr. Slafter, in editing the Prince Society's edition of Champlain's work, noted the fact that the voyage was made. It is time for Champdoré to have due recognition."
