The life and legacy of South Texas pioneer Francisco Yturria remains a fascinating study of a remarkable individual who made powerful and lasting contributions to the region's history. Lilia M. Garcia, a descendent of Don Francisco, consulted family papers and a variety of other primary sources to chronicle his story while pursuing a graduate degree at Southern Methodist University.
