Mitchell, Danville, Kentucky (where he graduated from Centre College in 1857 and from the theological seminary in 1860) to H. B. Craig, Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Mitchell tells of his profitable resale to area Presbyterians of books purchased from an agent, and of meeting a “very fine” young lady. George Oliver Diamond writes a brief autobiography for his children and grandchildren, focusing on his experiences as a member of the 559th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion in Europe during World War II. He received a portion of his military training in Bowling Green, Kentucky, returning to the city after the war to work and raise his family. He saw combat duty during the final months of the war.

Finding aid and full-text of diary (click on "Additional Files" below) for Manuscripts Small Collection 517. Photocopy of a typescript diary kept by David Barrow, a pioneer Baptist minister, during his trip to Kentucky and the Northwest Territory of Ohio. He visited family members, often preached at religious gatherings, and observed peace negotiations between the United States and various Indian tribes at Fort Greenville. Beginning in Isle of Wight County, Virginia, he traveled through Pennsylvania, Kentucky, the Northwest Territory, Eastern Tennessee, and North Carolina, before returning to his home in Virginia.
