Dr Stuart James Cox was born on April 1, 1923, and ‘handed in his logbook’ on October 16, 2016. He was a member of Course 11, 5BFTS at Clewiston from September 25, 1942, to April 8, 1943.

After Clewiston, Stuart was posted to several airfields in the UK, one being Barrow in Furness where he met and married Eithne Forman, a Wren, in August 1944. Their son Robert (Bob) was born in December 1945 and their daughter, Amanda (Mandi), in 1950.

He qualified as a doctor in 1953 and became a GP in Gillingham, Kent, until retiring in 1980.

Dr Stuart Cox was a Life Member of the Medway Yacht Club in Kent. He was Commodore 1975-1976. This obituary was written by the Medway and Swale Boating Association after his death in October 2016.

The Castillo de San Marcos is the oldest stone fortification on the North American mainland, a unique site that integrates Florida’s Spanish colonial past with American Indian narratives. A complete history of this fortification from its origins to its management under the National Park Service has not yet been written. During the Spanish colonial era, the Indian mission system complemented the defensive work of the fort until imperial skirmishes led to the demise of the Florida Indian. Finding aid only for Manuscripts Collection 8. Correspondence and diaries of Deel Carl Perguson, Jr., Horse Branch (Ohio County), Kentucky, and Seattle, Washington. Of interest are his letters written while serving in World War II in the United States, North Africa, and Italy, and his later memoirs of this period. Also of interest are diaries of his years as a student at Western Kentucky State Teachers College, 1939-1943.
