Of all the Founding Fathers, recorded Benjamin Rush, "few men wrote, spoke and acted more for their country from the years [of] 1764 to the establishment of the federal government than [John] Dickinson." He was one of the only Founding Fathers to play a leading role in most of the significant events surrounding the birth of the American republic-from the Stamp Act Congress in 1765 to the Constitutional Convention of 1787.
