The Legacy 2024 edition features both poetry and short stories written by Southern Adventist University students. Short stories were written by Jordaine Broyer, Irene Reyes, and an anonymous author. Poetry was written by Julia Juler, Jackson Robison, Jahsoulay Walton, Nina Bueno, and Heidi Burke.

Satori Literary Magazine

The Satori is a student literary publication that expresses the artistic spirit of the students of Winona State University. Student poetry, prose, and graphic art are published in the Satori every spring since 1970.

The Satori 2023 editors are Gabriel Hathaway, Van Herman, Madeline Schonitzer, Brianna Strohbehn, Page Sutton, Willow Swinbank, and Emily Venné. The Satori 2023 faculty advisor is Dr. Jim Armstrong, Professor of English.

Legacy books in colonial America were instruments for the transmission of cultural values between generations: the dying mother (usually) instructing and advising children on the path to salvation and heavenly reunions. They were a popular and influential form of women’s discourse that distilled the ideologies of the religious establishment into practical and emotional lessons for lay persons, especially the young.

This collection draws together legacy texts written by colonial American women and girls: five mother’s legacy books and two legacies by children, organized here chronologically. These legacies were writ­ten in anticipation of dying, making awareness of death central to the …

Finding Aids

Carroll Franklin Terrell was born in 1917 in Richmond, Maine. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College in 1940, Terrell entered the Army and served in World War II from 1941-1945, attaining the rank of captain. He began teaching at the University of Maine in 1948 and earned his master's degree from the University in 1950. He later earned a Ph.D. from New York University.

Muriel Rukeyser: The Contemporary Reviews, 1935-1980 is an open access bibliography with electronic links when available. It documents the reception of sixteen books of poetry and five books of prose, from Theory of Flight (1935) to The Collected Poems (1978). A set of “Additional Notices” includes reviews that are less tethered to individual publications, such as “Grandeur and Misery of a Poster Girl,” which appeared in the Partisan Review in the fall of 1943.
