Finding aid only for Manuscripts Collection 8. Correspondence and diaries of Deel Carl Perguson, Jr., Horse Branch (Ohio County), Kentucky, and Seattle, Washington. Of interest are his letters written while serving in World War II in the United States, North Africa, and Italy, and his later memoirs of this period. Also of interest are diaries of his years as a student at Western Kentucky State Teachers College, 1939-1943. The collection also includes his recollections of growing up in Horse Branch in the 1920s and 1930s.

Finding aid only for Manuscripts Small Collection 2484. Diary kept by 19 year-old Josephine Walker, Columbia, Adair County, Kentucky from 5 October 1883 to 1 December 1884. She faithfully comments on the weather and records her domestic activities, her overnight visits with relatives and friends, and her church and school attendance. She also writes of community events such as a hanging and the county fair.

Correspondence, book and article manuscripts, and research material of Alfred Leland Crabb, a native of Warren County, Kentucky and later professor at George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tennessee. The topics of the manuscripts include historical fiction related to Nashville and Bowling Green, biographies of prominent Nashvillians, and articles on all levels of education. Much of the unpublished material is fiction but draws from Crabb's Plum Springs school days and his student experiences at Western Kentucky University.

Letters and certificates of Samuel Baker, a Baptist minister who came to America from England in 1834, eventually holding pastorates in Kentucky, Tennessee, New York, Indiana, and Illinois . He was instrumental in establishing Bethel College in Russellville, Kentucky, and Bethel Female College in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The materials from the 18th century and early 19th century are facsimiles.
