El presente proyecto pretende abordar la educación cultural a través de la danza folklórica mexicana, incluyendo otros aspectos fundamentales como la historia, música, vestuarios, costumbres etc. Se muestra una programación curricular alineada a los Conocimientos y Destrezas Esenciales del Estado de Texas (TEKS). Dicho programa ofrece a los estudiantes la posibilidad de aprender y experimentar diversos ritmos, música, bailes, trajes típicos de varios estados de la República Mexicana, a través de danzas sencillas (de pareja o grupo), acercándolos al conocimiento de la cultura, entendiendo la danza, y utilizándola como modo de expresión, motivador y generador de enriquecimiento cultural.

The purpose of this study is to explore how contemplative education can have a viable role in education. In the first part of this thesis I will share my own personal experience with contemplative practices and how they led to my personal growth and transformation.

The second part will give some brief insights about the benefits the ancient wisdom traditions Hinduism and Buddhism attributed to contemplative practices. In this article, we refine a politics of thinking from the margins by exploring a pedagogical model that advances transformative notions of service learning as social justice teaching. Drawing on a recent course we taught involving both incarcerated women and traditional college students, we contend that when communication among differentiated and stratified parties occurs, one possible result is not just a view of the other but also a transformation of the self and other. More specifically, we suggest that an engaged feminist praxis of teaching incarcerated women together with college students helps illuminate the porous nature of fixed markers that …

This thesis aims to investigate the issues surrounding California's Proposition 227, an important language policy passed in June of 1998 which drastically limited bilingual education. This proposition requires that all public school systems be in English only. Using a method known as Critical Discourse Analysis, this study exposes the underlying bias embedded in the discourse of newspaper articles from: the Los Angeles Times, the Orange County Register, and the Sacramento Bee. "This thesis combines diary study with autoethnography to report an MATESL candidate's study abroad experience as an advanced learner of French. The writer summarizes language-learning experiences in Quebec and France while focusing on his second study abroad experience in France, where he encountered an educational system that was inconsistent with his training as a language teacher and his learning style as a language learner.
