Many studies exist on the topic of audience development for arts organizations. This paper specifically seeks to study the methods of audience development for emerging theatre companies in Charlotte, North Carolina in the early 21st century. My research compares published information on audience development to that of a successful emerging theatre company. After comparing this information, I provide an eight step guide of audience development strategies for emerging theatre companies.

Leaders Of '98: Murphy And Mccracken A Comparison Of The 1798 Rebellion In Wexford And Antrim, David Carton

This study examines the relationship between the Irish nationalist risings in Wexford and Antrim in 1798. The Antrim Rising was a largely ideological movement that was influenced by the beliefs of the United Irishmen; in contrast, the Wexford Rising was a reactionary movement that was influenced by the leadership of Fr. John Murphy of Boolavogue. An analysis of the differences and similarities of these two leaders serves as the primary mode of analysis. McCracken restructured the United Irishmen in Belfast into a secret revolutionary society, as Murphy mobilized rebel forces in Wexford and inspired a military uprising. This thesis seeks …

Creating, Planning, And Implementing Community Arts Programs For The 21st Century Adolescent From A Nonprofit Perspective, Georgia Haygood

This thesis examined adolescent behaviors, attitudes, and habits as motivators for creating nonprofit youth programs in the 21 51 century. A literature review, interviews with arts leaders, and a case study showed that children ages 10 to18 have access to a variety of after-school programming in local and national organizations. Three local leaders provided insight into the strengths and weaknesses of programs they directed in Charlotte, North Carolina. The youth forums presented in the case study were designed to provide an environment of trust, stability, and structure. The literature review, the interviews, and the case study all showed that the …
