Aesop's Fables And George Eliot's Brother And Sisters Sonnets, Margaret Wolfit
The George Eliot Review Online, ISSN: 2831-5375
It is always exciting to discover something new and to come upon it unexpectedly. That was my happy experience a few years ago. I had decided to try my hand at devising a biographical programme on George Eliot and to attempt to portray her at the end of her life, reminiscing on past events. I wanted to absorb as much as I could about her, starting with her early days. What were the influences that shaped her life and writing? What books had she read as a child?
She tells us: 'I could not be satisfied with the things around …

Interview With Dr. Gary Yia Lee, Paul Hillmer
Hmong Oral History Project
Dr. Gary Yia Lee, distinguished anthropologist and scholar, traveled from his home in Sydney, Australia to California for a funeral, then made a stop to visit family in the Twin Cities. Tou Thao, his nephew, is an alumnus of Concordia University and a founder of the Hmong Oral History Project. He prevailed on his kind uncle, despite jet lag, the exhausting effects of a three-day funeral, and many, many demands on his time (including a presentation at Concordia University on 29 December), to sit down with me. I owe many thanks-and apologies-to Dr. Lee, his wife Maylee Lee, and the …

The Passing Of Abc's Monday Night Football, Richard C. Crepeau
On Sport and Society
At the end of its thirty-sixth season, ABC's Monday Night Football will pass into history, sort of. It certainly has been an institution of historical significance for broadcasting and for American popular culture as well as sport. It will not exactly disappear but will migrate to Sunday night, while ESPN's Sunday night football will move over to fill the void on Monday night.

Development Of Handbook Addressing Self-Efficacy And Intrinsic Motivation In The Corporate Training Setting, Geraldine L. Marquis
Regis University Student Publications (comprehensive collection)
This research project focuses on strategies for increasing intrinsic motivation and self-efficacy beliefs of participants in the one to two day corporate training session. It consists of three primary components: (1) identifying strategies that can be utilized to increase intrinsic motivation and self-efficacy beliefs through a review of literature and interviews with corporate trainers, (2) testing of strategies within training sessions to determine if utilizing the strategies results in an increase of participants' intrinsic motivation and self-efficacy beliefs, and (3) developing a handbook outlining these strategies that can be utilized by corporate trainers. Although additional research is needed in this …

Far Reaches Of The Holiday Bowl Lineup, Richard C. Crepeau
Far Reaches Of The Holiday Bowl Lineup, Richard C. Crepeau
On Sport and Society
Several years ago the good people at the Miller Brewing Company put together the Miller Lite Survey of Sport in America. The survey, greeted by many with a roar of disbelief, found that bowling was the most popular participatory sport in the nation. We are now about to enter the Bowling Zone, a sixteen-day run of college football games with little or no meaning except to close family and friends of the participants, with a few notable exceptions. This is not the kind of bowling that was found in the Miller Lite Survey. These are not events featuring a hard …
