Nebraska Tractor Test 1110 John Deere 4430 Quad -Range Diesel, Nebraska Tractor Test Lab Oct 1972

Nebraska Tractor Test 1110 John Deere 4430 Quad -Range Diesel, Nebraska Tractor Test Lab

Nebraska Tractor Tests

All lest result s were determined from observed data obtained in accordance with SAE and ASAE test code or official Nebraska test procedure. First and second gears were not run as it was necessary to limit the pull in third gear to avoid excessive slippage. Fourth, tenth, eleventh, twelfth, thirteenth, fourteenth , fifteenth and sixteenth gears were not run as test procedure requires only six travel speeds. During maximum drawbar run in 3rd gear the transmission came out of gear twice making it necessary to hold the shift lever in place to complete the run.

Review Of Frank Regen, Apuleius Philosophus Platonicus. Untersuchungen Zur Apologie (De Magia) Und Zu De Mundo, Thomas Nelson Winter Sep 1972

Review Of Frank Regen, Apuleius Philosophus Platonicus. Untersuchungen Zur Apologie (De Magia) Und Zu De Mundo, Thomas Nelson Winter

Department of Classics and Religious Studies: Faculty Publications

This work examines the demonology of the Apology, De Mundo, De Deo Socratis, Florida, and De Dogmate Platonis in various aspects, noting places where De Mundo transmutes the meaning of its Greek model, the Peri Kosmou. These changes in meaning Dr. Regen shows to be systematic; they align the Latin version with Plato’s Symposium in places, and with Apuleius’ principles generally. Some changes may be illusory: does “rex omnium et pater” differ enough from ho panton hegemon kai genetor that conclusions can be drawn from the difference? Most changes, though, are more substantive. The sum is a useful …

Review Of A. R. W. Harrison, The Law Of Athens: Procedure, Thomas Nelson Winter Aug 1972

Review Of A. R. W. Harrison, The Law Of Athens: Procedure, Thomas Nelson Winter

Department of Classics and Religious Studies: Faculty Publications

For the topics covered, the book is a useful and thorough reference. The evidence is presented, and where Harrison goes beyond it, there is always fair warning (e.g., “on a priori grounds, one would have expected that,” or “we may suppose ...”). The book is full of discussion of the finer points, and the discussion is honest and undogmatic. Harrison would clearly have been a fine fellow to discuss the Attic orators with: I am sorry I shall not have the chance; I am glad that his colleague preserved this book for all of us.

Experiment At Nebraska The First Two Years Of A Cluster College, Robert E. Knoll, Robert D. Brown Jun 1972

Experiment At Nebraska The First Two Years Of A Cluster College, Robert E. Knoll, Robert D. Brown

Papers from the University Studies series (University of Nebraska)

In November 1968 the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska was asked to react to a document coming from a faculty-student committee charged with examining the feasibility of establishing an innovating college on the Lincoln campus. It attempted to spell out the need for such innovation, and it offered a plan for fulfilling the need that it delineated. This is that document:

1

Within the past generation a new kind of student, a new kind of faculty, and a new kind of university have developed. To meet the challenges which these changes present and to provide for an …

Local Economic Impacts Of Corporate Mergers: The Nebraska Experience, Stanely L. Brue May 1972

Local Economic Impacts Of Corporate Mergers: The Nebraska Experience, Stanely L. Brue

Papers from the University Studies series (University of Nebraska)

PRIMARY AND SECONDARY ECONOMIC EFFECTS OF CORPORATE MERGERS

A considerable amount of time and research effort has been devoted to the analysis of the effects of corporate mergers upon industrial concentration.1 Likewise, much research has been undertaken with respect to the relationship between economic concentration and market performance. Indeed, the primary economic concern associated with mergers and acquisitions is the possible anticompetitive effects which may accompany them. Thus, the Federal Trade Commission staff has pointed out: "The major public policy concern arising from mergers is that they have the effect of entrenching or creating market power, thereby rendering competition ineffective …

The Social And The Causal Concepts Of Responsibility, Nelson T. Potter Jr. Apr 1972

The Social And The Causal Concepts Of Responsibility, Nelson T. Potter Jr.

Department of Philosophy: Faculty Publications

The causal and the social concepts of responsibility share the notions of (a) a causal agent, and (b) some effect for which the agent is a cause. But William L. Blizek argues that the social concept has an additional element not shared by the causal concept: that of an adjudicator, someone who imputes responsibility. Thus he writes, “social responsibility is not a relationship between cause and effect, but a relationship between an agent and some consequence, as prescribed by an adjudicator.” He points out that our judgments of the different kind of social responsibility may change, as the society changes; …

Lyly's Midas As An Allegory Of Tyranny, Stephen S. Hilliard Apr 1972

Lyly's Midas As An Allegory Of Tyranny, Stephen S. Hilliard

Department of English: Faculty Publications

John Lyly's Midas is structured in terms of traditional allegorizations of the Ovidian myth that represent Midas as an avaricious and ignorant tyrant. Lyly is thus concerned with a theme popular in the public theater, but he treats it in allegorical manner distinctive in its focus on theme rather than character or action. The play first portrays Midas's mistaken choice of a private end, the accumulation of wealth for its own sake and as a means of financing lechery and aggression, then suggests the difficulties this causes in the governing of his kingdom. The episode in which Midas judges the …

A Protean Work: Review Of Anthony Burgess, Mf, Thomas Nelson Winter Mar 1972

A Protean Work: Review Of Anthony Burgess, Mf, Thomas Nelson Winter

Department of Classics and Religious Studies: Faculty Publications

The novel is a recasting of Sophocles' Oedipus Rex. Burgess’s love of language is becoming proverbial, and this novel is a philologist’s delight. Many of the words he uses as English are to be found in neither first, second, nor third edition of the unabridged. Browsing through dictionaries, including Classical Greek dictionaries, is part of the fun of reading this book, and was presumably part of the fun of writing it. It is crammed with significant names and with riddles, the first of which would have pleased the Sphinx, the answer to which is ingenious enough to be Oedipal. …

The Centrality Of Hart Crane's 'The Broken Tower', Melvin E. Lyon Mar 1972

The Centrality Of Hart Crane's 'The Broken Tower', Melvin E. Lyon

Papers from the University Studies series (University of Nebraska)

No ONE HAS NOTED the extent to which Hart Crane's "The Broken Tower" not only contains many of his major ideas and elements of expression but also gives them culminating expression.1 Marius Bewley says of the poem that "the statement it makes is more central to Crane's life and his view of poetry than that of any other title in The Collected Poems,"2 but he does not develop the point. Herbert Leibowitz examines some of the recurrent images and clusters of images in Crane's work3 but sees in them no development and hence no climax. To me it seems that …

The Nebraska Art Association, Fred N. Wells Jan 1972

The Nebraska Art Association, Fred N. Wells

Sheldon Museum of Art: Catalogs and Publications

In this history of the Nebraska Art Association emphasis has been placed on the development of policies which governed the formation of the collections, the close relationship between the Association and the University, and especially the family interests which have made possible many generous gifts.

It all began with Sarah Wool Moore, as dedicated a disciple of the visual arts as ever wielded a crayon or a camel's hair brush. Miss Moore had come to Nebraska University in 1884 as a teacher of drawing and painting. She had been a pupil of August Eisenmenger, rector of the Vienna Academy of …
