The title of this thesis is “The Significance of Dietrich Bonhoeffer Today.” I intend to discuss and show, with the data obtained through research, that the life and thought of Dietrich Bonhoeffer addresses individuals and/or Christian communities in today’s world in their concern for specific issues regarding Christian and contemporary living. From the data I gathered, I found that Bonhoeffer spoke to three categories of individuals and/or Christian communities; that is, he spoke to theologians and lay individuals within the Christian tradition, to the institutional manifestations of the Christian Church, and to intellectuals outside of the Christian tract. The book of St. Matthew has long been regarded as one of the most interesting and perhaps illuminating gospels of the New Testament. Its place at the head of the canon symbolizes the regard in which it was held by the ancient Church. The Church attempted to give special authority to the most important of its gospels by ascribing it to a disciple and eyewitness. Hence, it has come down to us as the primary synoptic gospel.

Throughout the history of Judah a series of fortification systems was constructed to assist in the military protection of Judah. These systems changed over time in order to meet the military and political situations then present in the Levant. This thesis is a study of the changing patterns of fortification in southwest Judah throughout its existence.

Prior to the time of Rehoboam, Israel and Judah were protected first by the mobile armies of Saul and David and later by four major centers which garrisoned the troops of Solomon. Additional Solomonic fortification was erected for internal usage in what became known …
