The "Orphan Brigade" was a nickname given to a group of military units recruited from Kentucky to fight for the Confederacy during the Civil War. This finding aid was prepared by the Orphan Brigade Kinfolk and donated to the Kentucky Library along with military files, genealogical information, photographs, and biography on the original soldiers. Robert Ground and Margaret Cockeral Family Tree. This family tree chart was compiled by Mamie Ground Hays and Pleasant Ground in 1937. It was recopied in January, 1983 by Karla Ground Lowe, daughter of Clifton Ground. The chart was transcribed by Frankie Ground Stone and Sue Lynn Stone McDaniel in March of 2010.
