The Day Of Yahweh, Kathryn L. Muller
The Day Of Yahweh, Kathryn L. Muller
Honors Theses
In the study of the Old Testament, the concept of the Day of Yahweh has long been considered to be central to the prophets and their view of the future. Ladislav Cerny described it as a doctrine that "touches all the intellectial and emotional, the mythological and theological, the spiritual and ritual, the ideological as well as social elements of Hebrew religion. Furthermore, Cerny said, "without this doctrine Hebrew religion would not be such, as it is now known to us."

A Close Look At Two Poems By Richard Wilbur, Jay Curlin
Honors Theses
For the past three semesters, I have had the pleasure of studying the techniques of prosody under the tutelage of Dr. John Wink. In this study, I have read a large amount of poetry and have studied several books on prosody, the most influential of which was Poetic Meter and Poetic Form by Paul Fussell. The problem with my study came when I tried to decide how to incorporate what I had learned into a …

His life, especially the two years before his death, was like a whirlwind of problematic experiences. It is impossible to say exactly which of these experiences affected the Ninth but it is certain that many of them did. In tracing the line from birth to death one sees the inner turmoil that Mahler brought into this last completed Symphony. Deryck Cooke places Mahler with such men of vision …

The Depiction Of Good And Evil In Eight Modern Plays, Jason K. Anders
The Depiction Of Good And Evil In Eight Modern Plays, Jason K. Anders
Honors Theses
Since the birth of the written word, and earlier with the inclusion of the history of oral tradition, literature has been greatly preoccupied with the theme of Good & Evil and the consequence of man's rejection of good, his guilt. The playwrights of ancient Greece, Elizabethan England, and Renaissance Europe have been just a few links in the long chain which has kept alive this thematic tradition. Do the modern playwrights continue this tradition, and if so, are the themes presented in a recognizable form? This study seeks to answer these questions in order to discover what has become of …
