Swiss American scientists have made many valuable contributions to a more precise understanding of the universe. Among the most influential of these was the astronomer, Robert Julius Trumpler, who did much to advance our knowledge of the Pleiades star cluster, the planet Mars, globular clusters, and the theories of his fellow Swiss American , Albert Einstein. Trumpler made his contributions at an important time in the development of astronomical theories that more accurately explained the nature of the universe, and his advances are still important today.
