An important topic for studies of STS and globalization are the ways “global” institutions create and attempt to implement health guidelines and safety standards to address risks associated with new technologies. In the following discussion this topic is examined through a case study of the activities of the World Health Organization’s Electric and Magnetic Field Project (WHO EMF Project).

This paper discusses the Yellow House VR project at the University of Wollongong. Innovative virtual reality technologies such as Oculus Rift are being utilised to recreate the 1970s Sydney artist community space known as the Yellow House, as both an historic replication and openly accessible, immersive teaching and learning environment for use and adaptation by teachers, students, researchers and the general community. The paper considers the role of the library in the enhanced presentation of digitised collections through new and evolving technologies that provide opportunities for knowledge enhancement and support the development of student e-portfolios.

The mark of a valuable collaboration is that neither party can successfully achieve the outcome without the other. Cross-library or cross- organisation collaboration allows libraries to respond to complex new opportunities and challenges. Bringing together diverse knowledge and skills sets, collaborations can deliver projects more effectively by drawing on existing knowledge assets. In September 2013 UNSW Library launched a new system, known as ROS, to manage information about the research outputs produced at UNSW. Despite moves towards inner-urban consolidation, Australian cities continue to expand in girth. In the process, housing development transforms formerly rural land into "peri-urban" settlements. These transitional zones are often sites of contestation: they place pressure on local amenities and infrastructure, reveal limitations in transportation and food systems, and conflict with “lifestyle” values. In this paper I explore these tendencies through the lens of an art project about Australian farmer P.A. Yeomans. Between 1940 and 1980, Yeomans developed a system of organic farming - "Keyline" - optimised for the poor soils and low rainfall of Australian conditions. Keyline has been hugely …

Sun protection behaviours among Australian adolescents are consistently low. While otherpopulation groups (notably younger children and adults) have responded to social marketingcampaigns and educational interventions, efforts to encourage adolescents to engage in sunprotection have been largely ineffective. This paper reports on the extension of previousqualitative work which identified different behavioural segments within the 14-16 year oldage-group. Dementia has been identified as a national health priority in Australia. National programs in the areas of research, education and training have been established. The Dementia Care Skills for Aged Care Workers program is a three-year project that commenced in 2006. It has the goal of providing training in the essentials of dementia care to 17,000 staff of aged care services across Australia. Successful completion of the training results in the award of a nationally recognized qualification. My critical-creative PhD project is entitled Mehta's Film Trilogy: Theorising Transnational Production and Reception; Practising Diasporic Creativity. It began as a textual analysis dissertation with a video-recorded reception studies component in the University of Adelaide's Discipline of Media in February 2007. Now nearing completion, it has become more than a hybrid research project. Its creative and fluid trajectories are not unlike the dispersals and convergences of diasporic identity and cultural production itself. Ms Stephens says the Bon Scott Project exhibition aims to prove there was more to the diminutive singer than a powerful voice, tight pants, showmanship and sexually suggestive lyrics.

Ms Stephens assigned artists that knew little about the band. "The project is not intended to be sycophantic because those results would tend to be cliched," she said. Phill Berrie and I have been involved for several years with Chris Tiffin and Graham Barwell in a project that fills in a gaping hole. We take a longterm view about the survival prospects and the ongoing accuracy of scholarly electronic editions. Even when created using a standardised and widely accepted markup system, and even if not tied to proprietary software, electronic editions face an uncertain future. Electronic texts can be copied and modified effortlessly; the modification may be accidental, perverse, for the purpose of adjusting text or, more likely, adding markup for a new scholarly purpose. In 1991 the Academy of the Humanities established a series, the Academy Editions of Australian Literature, consisting of critical editions in book form of some of the major contributions to Australian literary culture of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The works chosen for inclusion in the series do not currently exist in reliable editions, so the text of each work is freshly edited to be as accurate and reliable as possible. Each edition includes the editor’s introduction, and textual and explanatory notes, while some editions offer background essays by other scholars, maps, chronologies and similar aids for readers.
