This is a class project from ARTH 542: American Architecture taught at the University of South Carolina by Lydia Mattice Brandt in Spring 2016.

With more Americans attending college than ever before; urban renewal; racial integration; the expansion of coeducation; and the architecture community’s advocacy for holistic relationship between planning, architecture, and landscape architecture, the American college campus developed rapidly and dramatically in the mid twentieth century. Using the University of South Carolina’s Columbia Campus as a case study, this project explores the history of American architecture in the mid-twentieth century.

Pedro García -Caro’s After the Nation offers a historically-based analysis of the works of Carlos Fuentes and Thomas Pynchon. It argues that satire, parody, and metafiction in the works of these two authors challenge nationalist narratives promoted by Mexican and U.S. literary and official histories. This unique contribution explores ideas beyond the nation by studying establishedauthors–it compares a canonical Mexican author, Carlos Fuentes, and the more reclusive, but equally important, Thomas Pynchon. The problems organizations face have varying degrees of complexity. What is not often understood, however, is that the knowledge needed to solve these problems also varies in complexity, and should match the complexity of the problem itself. The current study provides grounded theory for how leaders in churches should approach problems relating to Intellectual Capital (IC) assets. These intangible assets are crucial to the ability of churches to create value that enriches the lives of individuals in their communities.
