During a time in which scholarly examinations of novels both major and minor abound, it seems remarkable that such an intricate and ambitious series as Anthony Powell' s Dance to the Music of Time has not generated more extensive and thorough critical attention. Resulting in part from the singularity of Powell' s art, this neglect can be attributed primarily to the nature of the series itself.
