McKenna Johnston and Leo Williams met over Zoom on February 23rd, 2021. At the time of the interview, New Mexico’s Bernalillo County had advanced to the Yellow COVID tier. It had been nearly a year since the COVID-19 pandemic had shifted the world to increasingly rely on virtual platforms. Since March 13th, 2020, McKenna had been participating in classes at the University of New Mexico over Zoom. In this interview, she speaks to her experience navigating the past year through virtual platforms.

I had the pleasure of interviewing one of my classmates, Henry Hamal regarding his experience during the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. It was interesting to note that this event had a shunting effect on Henry’s emotional development, as he noted in his interview. It was helpful to see a different perspective regarding people’s ability to adapt, or not, to a global crisis.
