Irvin "Buzz" Caverly, Jr. began working at Baxter State Park in 1960 as Park Ranger I immediately after graduating from Lee Academy in Lee, Maine. In 1982, 22 years after first being hired as a ranger, Caverly was selected to be the Baxter State Park Director, a position he would remain in until his retirement in 2005. Caverly remained active with the park, accepting an appointment from Governor Baldacci in 2007 to serve as the Baxter Park Wilderness Trust Fund Commissioner.

Collection, (1917-2023) includes papers, personal correspondence, and publications regarding former Governor Percival P. Baxter (1876-1969) and Baxter State Park. …

The opening and dedication of the Maine Center for the Arts located on the University of Maine campus was September 20, 1986. The Center contains 62,000 square feet of space and includes the Hutchins Concert Hall with 1628 seats and the Hudson Museum. In 2007, the Center was renamed the Collins Center for the Arts following a gift from donors Richard R. and Anne A. Collins.

Ella Corinne Brown was a faculty member at the University of Maine in Orono from 1962 to 1979. She was responsible for writing the course program for parks and recreation and designed the specialized program leading to a degree in parks and recreation. Brown was born in 1920 in Kansas City, Missouri and died in Orono, Maine in 1987. She graduated from the University of Missouri in 1951 and received her master's degree from Montana State University in 1961. She received her Ph.D. degree from Indiana University.

Walter Arnold was born in 1894 in Willimantic, Maine, the son of Alonzo and Alice Arnold. As a young man Walter hunted, trapped and guided with his father. After service in World War I, he started a mail order business, selling trapping supplies and animal trapping scents and lures nationwide.

Shaw and Arnold were good friends and hunting buddies for over twenty years. They wrote letters to each other frequently from 1959-1980 discussing their day-to-day life and the hunting or trapping adventures they shared together.

Clifford O.T. Wieden was the principal of the Aroostook State Normal School (later the Aroostook State Teacher's College and now the University of Maine at Presque Isle) and became its president in 1953. In the summer of 1947, Wieden taught a course at Farmington State Teachers College entitled "Sociography: A Maine State Travel Course." The course involved travel, observation and interviews as well as lectures, discussion and development of teaching units. Ralph S. Bartlett, born in 1868 in Eliot, Maine, was an attorney who graduated from Dartmouth College in 1889 and from Boston University in 1892. This collection includes travel films made by Bartlett on nine trips he took between 1925 and 1933 to the Middle East, the Arctic Sea and the Baltic states, Europe, Canada, South America, Scandinavia, and Russia. An additional reel contains footage of family members.

Notebooks dating from 1924-1961 kept by Guy Kendall about race horses and harness racing in Maine and New Hampshire. A few notebooks also have information about races in Connecticut and Massachusetts. The notebooks include photographs of the horses and drivers, racing programs listing the horses in each race and notes on how the horses placed in the races. The notebooks are arranged chronologically.

The collection contains records of the William Tell Club kept by the organizers and members of the club. They include the papers of incorporation, bylaws and minutes of annual meetings, 1903-1941, plus a series of photograph albums from the annual trips to the lodge. The volumes of minutes also give listings of expenses for the hunting trips, records of yearly dues, cash on hand, and general expenses of the club. Membership records and a guest register are also included.

The collection contains primarily financial records and a large number of photographs of camp activities.

The financial records include check registers and invoices, 1967-1974, for goods and services used by the camp each summer. The photographs include copy sheets used in preparing the camp's yearbook, Driftwood, as well as copies of the yearbooks themselves, 1963-2002. Most of the extensive photograph collection is undated and shows unidentified campers and staff engaging in a variety of outdoor activities. The collection also contains a few administrative records of the camp office, including correspondence, camp brochures and drafts, and a staff manual.
