Cross-Cultural Sharing Of Spirituality, John Skrzypaszek Nov 2016

Cross-Cultural Sharing Of Spirituality, John Skrzypaszek

John Skrzypaszek

This paper explores the nature of the Australian Aborigine and Christian spirituality. It demonstrates that the indigenous spirituality shows a strong tie between the spiritual realm and life's journey. The cultural symbolism, which reflects cosmology, shows that the mystical nature of the spiritual journey is deeply immersed in the totality of the Aboriginal life and consciousness. The study recognizes that the Aboriginal and Christian worldviews are distinctly different. However, it argues that the Aboriginal Christian spirituality may be enhanced by the qualities embedded in its indigenous roots. The study demonstrates that, at the point where propositional creed-based structure of the …

Over the last decade the genesis and use of Social Networking Sites (SNS) has steadily gained traction with the almost instant popularity of sites such as Youtube, Facebook, Cyworld and Twitter to name a few. In Australia, as in the rest of the developed and developing world, Social Media (SM) use has become an integral part of the communication, entertainment and media practices of large sections of the population, with participation in online communities often employing the same social capital and patterns of communication that occur in offline encounters. Ebinepre Cocodia

Using a reflective practice approach this paper provides an outline of the development of a new career development and counselling program for students within a medical sciences off-campus precinct. Drawing on Schön’s (1983) reflective practice framework the aim included reflecting “in” and “on” action during the development and implementation of the program, leading to transformative learning. Client (the student) and counsellor had the opportunity to assess and reframe their views through the incorporation of new knowledge and information. The career development program is based on Krumboltz and Super’s theoretical models with a focus on the life stages of career …

Assessing For Rising Visuospatial Ability Of School Leavers, Ebinepre A. Cocodia

Ebinepre Cocodia

This paper investigated increasing visuospatial ability in three countries. Drawing on the Flynn Effect some researchers (Greenfield, 1998; Neisser, 1997) hypothesized that visuospatial ability may be increasing. I explored rising visuospatial abilities amongst school leavers in the UK, Australia and Nigeria. In one study Cocodia et al. (2003) found that exposure to new technology may be impacting on ability to carry out tasks that require high levels of visuospatial ability more efficiently. Results suggest that increasing visuospatial ability may be occurring due to a more visual environment and more access to multimedia. The core component of the present research paper …

Radical History: Thinking, Writing And Engagement, Terry Irving, Rowan Cahill

This is an extended review of 'Radical Newcastle' (NewSouth Publishing, Sydney, 2015), edited by James Bennett, Nancy Cushing and Erik Ecklund. We criticise the book's neglect of the tradition of radical history writing and the recent radical scholarship on cities. We reveal its roots in academic empiricism and the liberal academic culture. Nonetheless there are some excellent chapters that embrace radical history positions.
