My original goals in this project were to create a new artwork titled Horror Stories and present it publicly on a dedicated URL as well as to identify galleries and new media festivals that may feature this work. Secondary objectives are to develop the artwork's interface and aesthetic appearance, work with a student programmer and student video editor, research open source software for online video content contributions, and participate in a new media artist's residency in Banff for the purpose of producing and testing this artwork amidst a built-in audience of world renowned creative professionals.

Joss Whedon’s Firefly and Serenity offer a brand new take on the well established science fiction film genre, one that many authors and viewers believe needed Whedon’s fresh new ideas to prevent further stagnating of the genre. Whedon’s Firefly focuses on the lives of Malcolm Reynolds (Mal) and his crew aboard the Firefly-class space ship named Serenity. Mal is the most compelling of the characters on the show because he is, in a way, the most fragile one. Through this lesson students will gain an understanding of the literary elements of each genre, improve comprehension by interpreting, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating written text in order to categorize. Students will also be able to identify characteristics of different genres, select genres that interest them, and be able to compare and contrast different works of literature with each other. Through this lesson, students will be able to respond to literature by socially interacting with their peers, gain an understanding of a tagline story through this lesson. In addition, they will come up with their own tagline story/poem/song/script. The lesson is tiered into three levels where students are grouped by ability. In each level students will receive a task card and can choose the activity that is of most interest to them.

This lesson is a social studies lesson for grades 11 and 12 on Jacksonian democracy. Through this lesson students will be able to understand the characteristics of Jacksonian democracy, expanded suffrage, the importance of elected officials, the supremacy of federal over state, and the Indian removal. Students will have an understanding of the positive and negative aspects of this era. In this lesson, the class will be tiered into groups based on ability and interest where students will collaborate to create a news broadcast about the time period.

In this paper, I explore how Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight saga employs a form of girl sexual citizenship that recognizes girls as sexualized, but maintains unspoken structures of compulsory heterosexuality, regressive gender norms, and hyperconsumerism in order to police girls as a protection of patriarchy.
