Admired for her vivid musical intensity and the beauty of her sound, Laurie Smukler is an artist who is active as a soloist and recitalist, as well as a much sought-after chamber musician. Growing up in Cleveland, she began her studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music, with pedagogue Margaret Randall. She started performing early, winning local competitions, and playing as a soloist with the Cleveland Orchestra at the age of fourteen. Max Keller - Flugelhorn in a beautiful transcription of Joaquin Rodrigo’s adagio from the Concierto de Aranjuez for guitar

Inspiration is a strange beast. Where does it come from? Often when I hear someone sing a song, I am inspired by it and want to learn it. It speaks to me somehow. Just as often, though, I’ll look through a book and find something that looks glorious that I want to try. Other times inspiration comes from a conversation, a joke, or some other shared experience.
