This webinar presents an overview of the contemporary state of creative-practice research and autotheory before introducing Shimmer, an emerging methodological framework developed through creative practice, postgraduate supervision, and reflective inquiry. The presentation argues that while creative-practice research has successfully established creative work as a legitimate form of knowledge production, and autotheory has legitimised lived experience as theoretical material, both traditions leave relatively under-theorised the embodied moment through which insight first emerges.

The significance of the work lies in its contribution to ongoing debates around embodiment, affect, intuition, and knowledge production within creative-practice research. Shimmer proposes a language for understanding …

This presentation examines a new methodological approach by introducing shimmer as an embodied epistemological state that frequently appears within creative-practice research but is rarely named, scaffolded, or assessed. Emerging at the intersection of feminist philosophy, phenomenology, affect theory, reflective practice, and practice-led research, shimmer describes the moment when insight coheres somatically before it can be articulated conceptually. Rather than positioning intuition as unrigorous or accidental, shimmer reframes embodied emergence as a legitimate site of knowledge production. Stargen - A Procedurally Generated Galaxy For Automated World Building, Christopher B. Del Gesso

Game Design

StarGen supports mixed-scale generation workflows, including galaxy-wide star distributions, quadrant and sector density visualization, subsector star fields via lazy sector generation, and full star system generation (stars, orbits, planets, moons, and belts) from selected stars or standalone seeded system generation. The tool also supports procedural jump route generation and visualization through a jump-lane pipeline, enabling early exploration of navigable spatial structures for game design.

Agostina Pieri is a junior double majoring in History and Philosophy with a Spanish minor. She is fascinated by the intersection of morality and revolutions. Her Time Machine Project focuses on three pamphlets published by Sinn Fein during the Irish Revolution. This propaganda begs the question: how does Sinn Fein justify the use of violence? Her analysis focuses on the evolution of Sinn Fein’s arguments through the influence of the First World War and President Wilson’s “Fourteen Points.”

Survey data from the ground penetrating radar (GPR) survey at the Afro-Indigenous Burial Ground (AIBG) at Sylvester Manor, Shelter Island, NY. Zip folder contains raw recorded data (radargrams). Additional files include zipped shapefiles for GPR transects, trees and rocks; and  dat file. Fieldstone marker files include zipped folders with an excel sheet listing numbered fieldstone markers, and a sheet listing the photographs of the fieldstone markers. The .rd7 files are the type generated by MALA GPR systems to record raw data (they are unprocessed binary data files containing the recorded electrical signals), along with .cor (coordinate data), .mrk (markers on radargrams), .mrkj (modern version of .mrk), and .rad (header file; contains survey parameters, antenna frequency, samples per trace, time window, and velocity) files. The info.dat file was derived from GPR-Slice. It is a critical ASCII text file that maps the GPR radargram filenames to their specific spatial positions. It defines the survey grid layout, including line lengths, survey direction (X or Y), and profile spacing. These …

Members of Lowe’s family continue to stand up for their values and help others. This willingness to fight for what is right dates back to a very important member of Lowe’s family, Edmund Kelly. Lowe shared a photo of Kelly’s letter to Abraham Lincoln on August 21st, 1863. The letter is titled “The Colored Man’s Interest in the Present War.” He wrote the letter supporting the recruitment of troops for the U.S. Colored Troop at the time.
