Northeast Archives welcomes Archivist Stephen Green. For the first time in its forty-year history, a highly trained professional archivist manages Northeast Archives of Folklore and Oral History. I am extremely pleased to be able to introduce Stephen Green, Archivist. Stephen comes to us from the University of Texas Institute of Texan Cultures at San Antonio, where he has been Library Director since 1996. The Maine Folklife Center Curriculum Guide is a way to bring life into Maine Studies curricula by personalizing history and creating new connections between students and their communities. The guide is geared to help teachers fulfill the Maine Department of Education Learning Results (July, 1997), many of which call for primary research and the understanding of individual lives in an historical context. Specifically, the guide presents an introduction to using the Maine Folklife Center and four units: one on conducting oral histories, one on games, and two on the lumbering life.
