Legitimation, Mark C. Modak-Truran
Legitimation, Mark C. Modak-Truran
Mark C Modak-Truran
This article identifies three different conceptions of legitimation - pre-modern, modern, and post-secular - that compete both within and across national boundaries for the coveted prize of informing the social imaginary regarding how the government and the law should be legitimated in constitutional democracies. Pre-modern conceptions of legitimation consider governments and rulers legitimate if they are ordained by God or if the political system is ordered in accordance with the normative cosmic order. Contemporary proponents of the pre-modern conception range from those in the United States who maintain that the government has been legitimated by the “Judeo-Christian tradition” to those …

Reinterpret Polygamy In Islam: A Case Study In Indonesia, Arif Rohman
Arif Rohman
It is the consensus of ulema (religious leader) in Indonesia that polygamy is allowed in Islam, while polyandry is prohibited. That is why even though that the practice of monogamy has negative impacts to women, some people still conduct it and believe that polygamy is sunnah (the manner or deeds of Muhammad) and part of syariah (Islamic law). This article will explore the perspective of fundamentalist and modernist about polygamy and how the modernist Muslim scholars in Indonesia fight for opposing polygamy.

When Prayer Trumps Politics: The Politics And Demographics Of Renewable Portfolio Standards, Joshua P. Fershee
Joshua P Fershee
This Article seeks to understand who supports renewable energy mandates (and why) by analyzing a variety trends found in political and socio-economic data by state, as well as by state renewable energy opportunities (or the lack of such opportunities). The review finds little shocking in the way of politics: Democratic states tend to favor mandates and Republican states tend not to have mandates. Somewhat surprisingly, the correlations among states with wind and solar resources (as well as most of the demographic data) ranged from limited to inconclusive. In religion, however, a strong trend developed. The states with higher Catholic populations …

Summary: Israeli- Palestinian Ethnic Conflict, Allen Gnanam
Summary: Israeli- Palestinian Ethnic Conflict, Allen Gnanam
Allen Gnanam
The Israeli- Palestinian ethnic conflict will continue to escalate throughout both the short term and long term world future. The current and future animosity between both ethnic groups can be attributed to (a) history based accounts and religious tensions, (b) polarizing ideologies held by both sides, and (c) middle eastern resentment toward the Jewish state of Israel. History based accounts will refer to both biased historical accounts and factual historical events that have contributed to the Israeli- Palestinian ethnic conflict. Concepts such as ethnicity, nationalism, ideology, Palestinians, Israeli’s, Arabs, and religion will be conceptualized in the research paper.

The Apostle Table - Part Iii - Incompetent Endogenous Response Intransitivity, David Randall Jenkins
The Apostle Table - Part Iii - Incompetent Endogenous Response Intransitivity, David Randall Jenkins
David Randall Jenkins
The Apostle Table illustrates a New Testament encryption scheme revealed in the Book of Matthew. Specifically, the list of the twelve apostles in Matthew, 10:1-4, points to the Matthew, Chapters 8 and 9, disciple characterizations. The disciples metaphorically characterize the social choice theory aspect of the scripture writers' (ordered relations theory: social choice theory: welfare model) regression. The paper is written in two parts: I. The Exogenous Pressures; and, II. The Endogenous Response. Interestingly, the paper explains why the crucified Jesus could not get off the cross.
Social State Definition And The Economic Control Systems Product, David Randall Jenkins
Social State Definition And The Economic Control Systems Product, David Randall Jenkins
David Randall Jenkins
Professor Arrow formulated his social state definition in terms of each individual's consumption versus factors of production. Ancient philosophers understood impossibility-resolved social choice theory derived welfare models involve reflexive economic form hierarchical structures where the individual is implicit. The scripture writers also concluded theory construction and empirical research are not reflexive such that empirical research undertaken in the absence of an essential theoretical nexus is illusionary. Therefore, empirical aggregation surrogates are unable to competently effect Arrovian impossibility end-runs. The scripture writers' reference ethics based aggregation mechanics articulate impossibility-resolved (social welfare function formulation: social state definition) transitivity.
Historical Perspectives On Attitudes Concerning Death And Dying, David San Filippo Ph.D.
Historical Perspectives On Attitudes Concerning Death And Dying, David San Filippo Ph.D.
David San Filippo Ph.D.
Beliefs and practices concerning death have changed throughout human history. In pre-modern times, death at a young age was common due to living conditions and medical practices. As medical science has advanced and helped humans live longer, attitudes and responses to death also have changed. In modern Western societies, death is often ignored or feared. Changes in lifestyles and improved medical science have depersonalized death and made it an encroachment on life instead of part of life. This has left many people ill equipped to deal with death when it touches their lives.

State Terrorism And Globalization: The Cases Of Ethiopia And Sudan, Asafa Jalata
Asafa Jalata
This article compares the essence and effects of Ethiopian and Sudanese state terrorism by focusing on the commonalities between the two states. These peripheral African states have used global and regional connections and state terrorism as political tools for creating and maintaining the confluence of identity, religion, and political power. Ethiopia primarily depends on the West, and Sudan on the Middle East, since Christianity and Islam are the dominant religions in these African states respectively. While the Ethiopian state was formed by the alliance of Abyssinian (Amhara-Tigray) colonialism and European imperialism, the Sudanese state was created by British colonialism known …
