The economic, political, and social rise of the Western block of nations was founded on the single most enduring currency: reputation. Reputation, the source of credibility and trust, is the real asset that allows the U.S. to project its stature around the world. BRICS nations cannot rise to prominence by mimicking developed countries. They must build their reputation first. Wealth is only a byproduct of this more precious commodity, and countries who have it can squander it just as emerging economies can acquire it. The Hui And The Uyghurs: A Comparison Of Relationships With The Chinese State, Arianna Shorey

The author examines the historical, social, and cultural connections between China and its Muslim minority groups, focusing on the Hui and Uyghur populations. Though both groups are officially granted some measure of religious freedom and autonomy under the Chinese constitution, their relationships with the state are quite different. The Hui enjoy a relatively peaceful coexistence with the government, striving to balance their distinct cultural and religious belief with integration into mainstream Chinese society. The Ugyhurs, however, maintain a separatist stance toward the government and face much harsher regulations and more extreme forms of discrimination.

Chinese foreign policy is an extremely dynamic factor in today's world. One way of trying to describe Chinese foreign policy is by determining national role conceptions of Chinese leaders. The national role conception that Chinese leaders have plays an essential part in the development and implementation of Chinese foreign policy. The different conceptions of China's role in the international system, as determined by Chinese leaders, gives an important contribution to understanding the rise of China as a leading world power.
