Thirty years ago, a British rock band called The Who made a profound statement. Following the unexpected death of legendary drummer Keith Moon in 1980, Who guitarist and composer Pete Townshend entered a long period of mourning and reflection. Out of this epoch of uncertainty for the band emerged a musical gem, the likes of which never seen before or since. “Eminence Front”, the premiere single of the 1982 album It’s Hard, represents the insight gained from the intense feelings of loss associated with Moon’s demise.
