The Effect Of Competency Modeling On Restaurant Employee Engagement And Turnover Intent, Erin Mclaughlin Vu
The Effect Of Competency Modeling On Restaurant Employee Engagement And Turnover Intent, Erin Mclaughlin Vu
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
High turnover and low engagement among restaurant employees cost restaurant owners thousands of dollars per employee each year due to costs associated with training and lost productivity. Competency models are used in many industries to improve employee engagement and reduce turnover, but there is a gap in knowledge surrounding the use of competency models in restaurant organizations. The purpose of this pretest-posttest quasi-experimental quantitative study is to examine if the implementation of a competency model affects turnover intent and employee engagement for restaurant employees. Employee engagement and turnover intent were measured before and after a competency model was implemented. Four …
Infusion Of Academic And Social-Emotional Learning In Charter Middle Schools, Lewis James Sampson
Infusion Of Academic And Social-Emotional Learning In Charter Middle Schools, Lewis James Sampson
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
AbstractCharter schools often have more autonomy (i.e., freedom to innovate) and are typically more student centered than their traditional school counterparts. To address less privileged, underserved student academic deficits, some charter schools have infused curriculum with academic and social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies. The purpose of this study was to understand the perceptions of principals and teachers regarding the infusion and outcomes of SEL initiatives with academic curriculum at their charter middle schools. The exploration of educators’ perceptions of low-income, underserved students’ academic and social-emotional advancement and the efficacy of infusion of SEL into the academic curriculum in their Northern California, …

Experiences Of Public-Private Partnership Concession Uncertainties In The Federal Capital Territory Administration Of Nigeria, Chigbo Rowland Chikelu
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Structuring successful public-private partnership (P3) concession contracts is a problem for both the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) of Nigeria and private concessionaires that partner with the government to finance the delivery of public goods in the territory. Researchers have estimated the percentage of P3 concession failures in Nigeria to be between 50% and 60%. The purpose of this study is to explore concessionaires’ lived experiences involving P3 concession uncertainties, opportunities, and barriers while they partner with the FCTA of Nigeria to deliver public goods. The key research question examined the meaning of P3 concession uncertainty to concessionaires with the …
Understanding District Assemblywomen Participation In District Assemblies Common Fund Decisions In Ghana, Ranney B. Jackson
Understanding District Assemblywomen Participation In District Assemblies Common Fund Decisions In Ghana, Ranney B. Jackson
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Abstract The problem addressed in this study is that there is no deep understanding of the perspectives of the Assemblywomen of Ghana regarding their participation in the District Assemblies Common Fund (Common Fund) in Ghana. This qualitative case study aimed to explore and understand the perspectives of the assemblywomen’s participation in decisions of the Common Fund regarding development initiatives in their districts. The study used two theoretical frameworks, citizen participation theory and a sequential theory of decentralization, to provide better insights into the existence of this gap. The critical finding derived from an analysis of interviewing 25 assembly members is …
The Role Of Organizational Socialization On The Ethical Orientation Of Male Police Officers, Megan Marie Bessey
The Role Of Organizational Socialization On The Ethical Orientation Of Male Police Officers, Megan Marie Bessey
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
A gap in literature exists surrounding years of service, training, and ethical attitudes within the law enforcement industry. The proposed hypothesis was that years of service in law enforcement and hours of in-service training were interactively related to an officer's ethical attitudes as related to ethical orientation. The purpose of this study was to examine organizational socialization within the law enforcement profession, specifically as demonstrated through the interaction effects of factors relating to ethical orientation and scores measured by the Ethics Position Questionnaire of male Northern Kentucky and Southern Oregon police officers. The major theoretical propositions for this study came …

Managers’ Challenges Complying With Environmental Regulations In Ghana’S Mining Sector, Augustin Tandoh

Even though Ghana’s mining industry has been and continues to be of remarkable benefit to the national economy, environmental pollution continues to plague the industry. The purpose of the qualitative case study was to obtain the perceptions of 9 nongovernmental organization (NGO) stakeholders of the challenges faced by managers in the Ghanaian mining industry tasked with complying with Ghana Environmental Protection Agency (GEPA) regulations. Freeman’s stakeholder theory was the theoretical framework of the study. Data were collected from semistructured interviews with a purposive sample of Ghanaian and international NGO representatives who sought to work with, or even shame and pressure, …
Professional Values Of Corporate Nurses, Kasey Jeanne Sands
Professional Values Of Corporate Nurses, Kasey Jeanne Sands
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Healthcare is comprised of providers, who offer patient services, and payors, who manage the financial reimbursement of providers. Not much is known about registered nurses (RNs) in the corporate payor industry due to a lack of research. Strong professional values (PVs) are expected of all RNs, but research has shown this to vary across the field, meaning that RNs may require support in this area. As little is known about RNs in the payor industry, how these nurses sustain their PVs within the industry has not been evaluated, recognized, or supported. Therefore, the aims of this quantitative, descriptive, and correlational …

Catalysts To Transformational Leadership Between Managers And Analysts In Public Service, Eugene Davis Stevenson Iii
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Transformational leadership (TL) is the ability of a leader to convince a subordinate or follower to adopt organizational goals as their goals. Transformational leaders utilize intellectual stimulation, individualized consideration, inspirational motivation, and idealized influence to engage and mold their employees. Within the sphere of public management, current leadership research acknowledges the effect of TL but is still incomplete or inconsistent on how to catalyze TL consistently. The focus of this study was how TL is used between managers and analysts within California state public service. The theoretical framework for this study is complexity theory. Complexity theory states that the world …

The Effect Of Moral Development On Voters’ Trust In Politicians, Aquilus Ricks
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The impact of voters’ moral development on trust in politicians is a rarely explored phenomenon among scholars studying why voters trust politicians. It is unknown whether voters’ moral development plays an influential role in their decisions to trust those they elect to public office, or if they simply respond to the best political show. The purpose of this study was to examine this phenomenon and determine whether voters’ moral development impacted their trust in politicians regardless of age, gender, education, income, and religion. The study surveyed 110 eligible voters in a midwestern city in the United States using two survey …

Crisis Mitigation And Ethical Decision-Making In A Nonurban Community A Social Work Perspective, Lisa Marie Woolston
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
While social workers respond to human and natural disasters daily, they also respond to other crises equally important. The 2019-2020 global health pandemic has required social workers to prepare for the unknown. Social workers must prepare for those events by planning, training, and knowing agency policies, and procedures (formal rules). This capstone study's objective was explored through a qualitative action research methodology discovering ways social workers use ethics for decision-making during crisis mitigation in a nonurban community. A biomedical ethical decision-making model, along with the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics was utilized to understand what guides social …
