The theological-political problem, the inherent tensions between religion, human intellect and political society are the focus of the book Philosophy and the Perfect Political Order: the Political Theology of Leo Strauss. Strauss, (1899-1973) one of the greatest scholars of political philosophy, never produced an independent philosophy. Instead, his philosophical thought is entwined within commentary on the works of Maimonides, Hobbes, Spinoza, Nietzsche and others. In this book, it is reconstructed through a comprehensive investigation of his works. Are we as a society morally obligated to guarantee everyone equal access to health care? Religious leaders cannot exempt themselves from the discussion, leaving the politicians to determine the ideological parameters of the debate and the experts to phrase the questions. The way the problem is defined determines the solutions. The economics regarding feasibility and logistics should be secondary.

In this article, we explore the transition from philosophical and theological manifestos to their practical and educational implementation as we analyze the official American Reform-Judaism discourse as curricular text. This analysis provides a tool for a discussion of the relationships between vision and its implementation particularly for educators and leaders. We highlight the possibilities of dialogue among educators, rabbis-in-training, and leaders to aid in the formation of new visionary documents and, in doing so, affect the dynamics of paving new directions. Haim Guri’s poem Bab el Wad is arguably one of the most famous pieces of modern Zionist poetry ever created, and after being set to music, became one of Israel’s most recognizable songs. R. David Buzaglo composed the words to his piyyut “Binu Hamordim” to Shmuel Pershko’s melody to Bab el Wad. The relationship between these two works has been previously examined in the articles by Meir Buzaglo and Shimon Biton. These two scholars argue that in borrowing the melody, R. In the following pages I examine the article" A Proposed Taxonomy for a Twenty-First Century Theology of Reform Zionism" by Stanley M. Davids and argue that the "Taxonomy" in question is in fact a political theology. In that sense it is a signifies a change in the way Reform Zionism understood itself juxtapose the relations between Church and State at least in the context of the State of Israel.

The ideas of the modem Jewish thinkers Leo Strauss and Yeshayahu Leibowitz share a common root. Both men place the interpretation ofMaimonides at the center of their research and their own philosophical statements. Both emphasize the centrality of the Law (halalchah) as the core of Judaism and draw heavily on Maimonides to support their claims. Although Strauss and Leibowitz agree on the centrality of the Law in Maimonidean thought, they differ in interpreting the meaning of the Law in Maimonides. Yeshayahu Leibowitz’ concept of redemption is explored by focusing on his essay entitled “Redemption and the Dawn of Redemption”. In a remarkably short span—only three pages—Leibowitz laid out a complex concept of redemption liberally seasoned with irony. The concept of ‘redemption’ is frequently woven into the platforms and credos of many Jewish religious social and political movements. I argue that Leibowitz intended to redeem ‘redemption’ from the grip of any competing Jewish interpretation, and that he perceived all uses other than his own strict interpretation of the word ‘redemption’ as erroneous and idolatrous, and that reclaiming ‘redemption’ impacts the fate …
