Music from the Harpsichord House is an installation and series of concerts that exists in the binary of in and out of performance. During a concert, the harpsichordist is hidden inside the house and his face is live-projected outside. Fifteen new musical compositions were commissioned for the harpsichord house.

This is the program from the Fall 2017 Steel Bands concert directed by Dr. Ryan Lewis and featuring Tiger Steel and Pan Jouvet. Tiger Steel, the OBU steel drum ensemble, specializes in the performance of calypso and soca music from the Caribbean nations of Trinidad and Tobago—the birthplace of steel drums—but also performs a wide variety of styles from jazz, pop, and rock to classical, funk, and Latin. Pan Jouvet, the beginning steel drum ensemble, is open to all OBU students—no audition or musical experience is necessary. Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host the New York Classical Players (NYCP) on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 3 p.m. as part of its first-ever Arkansas tour. The chamber music concert, which will feature the string quartet from the NYCP, is free and open to the public and will be held in Mabee Fine Arts Center’s McBeth Recital Hall.

Ouachita Baptist University’s Wind Ensemble will present its spring concert on Tuesday, March 7. The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Performing Arts Center on the Ouachita campus. It is free and open to the public.
“The Wind Ensemble is the premier instrumental ensemble at OBU and the concert will feature outstanding wind and percussion music,” said Dr. Craig Hamilton, Ouachita’s Lena Goodwin Trimble Professor of Music and director of bands.

Ouachita Baptist University’s Division of Music will host pianist Dr. Cole Burger in concert on Thursday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. in McBeth Recital Hall in Mabee Fine Arts Center. The recital, which is part of Ouachita’s Guest Artist Series, is free and open to the public.
Burger is an instructor in the College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University, where he teaches and coordinates class piano and piano pedagogy. He holds degrees in piano performance and economics from Northwestern University and the University of Texas.
