During our recent vacation in Sweden, my husband and I were able to spend five days in Borlange. I can tell you unequivocally that the Jussi Bjorling Museum is heaven for the dedicated Jussicologist! Unfortunately, space in this issue doesn't permit a comprehensive story on the Museum and the marvelous treasures it contains or a review of Don Goldberg's August 20th lecture there on "Jussi In America", but look for both articles in our next issue.

As you have likely noticed, a VERY special name has been added to our list of Honorary Advisors! JBS-USA is delighted to announce that Anna Lisa Bjorling-Barkman has agreed to lend her name to the Society. This is indeed a great honor for JBS-USA, and we are most appreciative of Mrs. Bjorling-Barkman's support and sponsorship. We are grateful to Anders Bjorling and Harald Henrysson who initiated our discussions with Mrs. Bjorling-Barkman.

JBS-USA is pleased to introduce the n west member of its Advisory Board, Barbro Ehnbom of New York City. Ms. Ehnbom heads her own investment advisory company, DuHaan Groupe, Inc., as a consultant for large Swedish corporations having major US markets. She also has taught business law and ethics at the Stockholm School of Economics, and she is an active board member of the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce.

Once again I wish to extend a warm welcome to each of you.

The first half of 1999 has been an exciting time for JBS, with steadily increasing growth and a most successful first conference (see the reports in this issue). As we move into the latter half of 1999, the Board of Directors and the Advisory Committee will be initiating a number of key activities: conference planning for 2000, the initiation of planning for JBS educational programs and scholarships, budgeting, etc. Look for a progress update in the 4Q99 issue.
