An examination and interpretation of the painting of Persephone's return from the underworld on an Athenian bell krater, a vessel used for serving wine. The author posits that the female-centric imagery on the bell krater might hint that it was used in the festival of Thesmophoria, a rite celebrating Demeter and Persephone in which only women were allowed to participate.
