Heidi Parker is a 47-year-old lesbian, who uses she/her pronouns. Heidi Parker grew up in the South and Seventh-Day Adventist. One of her favorite parts about living in the South and still one of her favorite things today is the mountains. Heidi Parker has moved to a few places around the United States; including New York, Maine, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and Morrow Beach. "A Line A Day" diary that Marie Ahnighito Peary wrote in, between 1917 and 1921, with the bulk of the entries from 1918-1921. During this busy time in her life, she married Ted (Edward Stafford), gave birth to two sons - Junior (Edward Stafford, Jr.) and Buddy (Peary Diebitsch Stafford), and lost her father (Admiral Robert E. Peary). The diary chronicles her daily life for those 4-5 years, as well as brief mentions of newsworthy world events, including the 1918 flu pandemic and World War I.

The objective of this research project is to analyze the interlocking fields of fire from the field artillery positions around the Bastion known as Fort Monroe located in Hampton Virginia. The research project will allow for the visualization of the artillery positions around the fort in one overview, as well as line of sight analysis from each artillery position within the moat. An analysis and line of sight for the artillery positions outside of the fort was also conducted. The Trans Atlantic Slave Trade was responsible for the enslavement and displacement of many Africans of different ages, genders, and cultures. The memorial presents the diversity in a line of African men, women, and children trudging down a pier in chains, the last figure looking back across the ocean to Africa’s western coast.

The Port of Hampton Roads in Chesapeake, Virginia is the location in which the first enslaved Africans arrived in North America in 1619. Only about 20 of the 60 Africans survived the voyage and departed.

Once the capital of the Confederacy and the industrial hub of slave-based tobacco production, Richmond, Virginia has been largely overlooked in the context of twentieth century urban and political history. By the early 1960s, the city served as an important center for integrated politics, as African Americans fought for fair representation and mobilized voters in order to overcome discriminatory policies. Richmond’s African Americans struggled to serve their growing communities in the face of unyielding discrimination. I address how anthropologists can identify the patterns and development of slavery and economic oppression through archaeology and the visualization of Virginia enslavement. I focus on the enslaved people of James Madison's Montpelier. I use 3D modeling as a foundation for integrating enhanced visuals with the goal of presenting a tangible understanding of the enslaved individuals in relation to the artifacts and history of the archaeological sites. I intend to show a common theme in economic oppression by comparing modern themes in slavery and examining Fraser D. Ellen Adair was a sweet, somewhat silly 17-year-old and well into her second year at Hollins Institute when one day in January 1863, with the Civil War showing no sign of ending anytime soon, her father unexpectedly showed up to take her home. Ellen’s idyllic days as a Hollins student were ending, and fate held cards it had yet to show. Diary entries from the period show the impact of war on a formerly quiet part of the state.

Crucible of the Civil War offers an illuminating portrait of the state’s wartime economic, political, and social institutions. Weighing in on contentious issues within established scholarship while also breaking ground in areas long neglected by scholars, the contributors examine such concerns as the war’s effect on slavery in the state, the wartime intersection of race and religion, and the development of Confederate social networks. They also shed light on topics long disputed by historians, such as Virginia’s decision to secede from the Union, the development of Confederate nationalism, and how Virginians chose to remember the war after its close.

Of special interest are photographs and maps of geological and mining sites in the typewritten, edited version of the journals. There is also a map index.
