She and her husband, Dan, along with pets Abbey and Bear live in Mokelumne Hill, where they remain active in Restore Hetch Hetchy, Yosemite Associates, and many conservation issues. Almonds Along The Silk Road: The Exchange And Adaptation Of Ideas From West To East, Ken Albala

The article discusses the trade routes and the use of almonds to treat ailments. According to the author, almonds were among the first plants to be domesticated around world, particularly in Asia. It also notes that almonds would be ideal for treating colds and other phlegmatic disorders, as well as for bowels. Moreover, some forms in which almonds could be consumed are also mentioned, such as soaking or blanching and roasting.

Secrecy, Textual Legitimation, And Inter-Cultural Polemics In The Book Of Daniel, Alan Lenzi

The article presents a critical examination into the Old Testament book of Daniel, questioning the role and interpretation of secrecy in the narrative. An overview of the cultural-historical context of the concept of secrecy and of the story within ancient Mesopotamian civilization is given. The centrality of secrecy to the legitimization of Daniel's authority is asserted and further implications on the concept of Biblical revelation are explored.
