In the early 1970s, a group of six evangelical women in Chicago began meeting. Their topic of conversation? The emerging secular movement of feminism and what it might mean in a Christian context. These discussions would eventually lead to the Daughters of Sarah, a mid-20th century American journal for the particular audience of Christian feminists. Daughters of Sarah published some of the earliest religious scholarship on the topic.

As part of the effort to inaugurate a new international socio-political order after World War II, international emphasis was given to certain moral and legal entitlements we have come to call human rights. That emphasis initially found its most forceful expression in the Charter of the United Nations, which not only asserts its members' faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, as well as in the equal rights of men and women of all nations, but also recites its members' commitment to employ international machinery for the promotion of the social and economic …

Sex Role Orientation And Self-Esteem Of Female Varsity Athletes, Recreational Athletes And Nonathletes, Jo Ann Utley
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The relationship between athletic participation, sex role orientation and self-esteem has received little attention from researchers and the relationship of these variables among females has not received as much attention as it has among males. Women's and Gender Studies Program: Faculty Publications
Toni Cade Bambara is a writer of responsibility and hope, a writer who sees violence, injustice, and oppression, but who believes in the ability of human beings to transform themselves and their situations. In her two collections of short stories, Gorilla, My Love and The Sea Birds Are Still Alive, and the novel, The Salt Eaters, Bambara shows us the possibilities for laughter and transformation by oppressed people, especially the Black community of which she is a part.

Sexist Language Distracts, Demeans, Marcia Gauvin
Social Justice: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
