Sarah Denman served as the provost and senior vice president of academic affairs for Marshall University. She worked with the university for 33 years, starting her career with the Marshall in 1975. Dr. Denman played a major role in various projects including the merger of the West Virginia Graduate College in the Charleston area as a part of Marshall, development of the Marshall Community and Technical college, and worked with State Senator Robert Plymale to start an new engineering program at Marshall, as well as many other projects that broadened Marshall’s available programs, it’s national accreditation, and the recognition of …

The Satellite Network of West Virginia Collection consists of the bulk of documents and other corollaria accumulated by the entity from its inception in 1986 to the time its Director, John H. Buskey, retired from his position early 2001. These documents consist of Minutes and Correspondence, Technical Information, Budgetary Data, Personnel Files, and Work Product, to name several examples. Other corollaria consist of programs found on Videocassette. The Collection is divided into fifteen (15) user-friendly sections as listed in the Table of Contents. This collection is predominantly composed of Kumlien’s notes for assorted music courses he taught while at Marshall. Due to the disorganized and frequently unidentified nature of the content, all course materials such as outlines, lecture notes, and related class materials are grouped into folders 1 to 5. This collection contains correspondence from L. J. Corbly and J. E. Plummer, president of Marshall College and the Marshall Business College respectively, to recruit the Osburns/Osbornes to attend Marshall. This collection includes Marshall College ephemera from 1904-1906, including advertising pamphlets, a 1905 copy of The Parthenon, general course information, and empty envelopes.
The accession record states that this collection included a cylindrical photograph of the Marshall College student body in May of 1930, however, this item was not found when the collection was processed.

This collection consists of pamphlets, papers, and other materials related to Vaughn’s practice of teaching in West Virginia. This includes books, pamphlets, and schedules related to the West Virginia Teachers’ Institute, an 1864 primer, handwriting workbooks, and other ephemera. Other materials include a 1920 almanac, an 1897 Farm and Home newspaper, religious programs and pamphlets, two postcards from students, tour books from the Chicago and New York World’s Fair in 1933 and 1939 respectively, and Washington D.C.
