Literary supplement of the College Heights Herald published each semester. It began as a class project for a Problems in Journalism class and was first published in January of 1969. The name is a French term meaning spirit. The goal of L’esprit is to provide, in as proper of a literary style as possible, an outlet for original poems, short stories, pictures and art work by students and faculty at Western Kentucky University.

The Harry E. Danford papers consist primarily of the original manuscripts of his books Soakum (1910), The West Virginian (1926), Trail of the Gray Dragoon (1928), Ohio Valley Pioneers (1931), Builders of the West (1959), and Paths of Glory (1969). Also included are resource material related to his books and his personal comments and criticism of the books. Correspondence about the publication of the books, papers concerning his political interests and career as an educator, printed material, and a small number of photographs are also a part of the collection.

The Jesse Stuart Collection consists primarily of magazines given by Mr. Stuart which contain articles, stories, or poems written by him or about him. Approximately half of these items are in the original publication; the others are photoreproductions of originals lent by Mr. Stuart.
Another significant part of the collection was purchased from International Bookfinders, Inc., of Pacific Palisades, California, and includes first editions of Mr. Stuart’s works, galley proofs, and some manuscript material.
