A creative work of fiction, The Light at the Top of the Stairs Is Broken tells the story of Reardon McCoy, a twenty-nine year old homosexual who panics at the prospect of his approaching thirtieth birthday, remembers a vision he had as a child, prophesizing that he was destined for great and important distinction, and he has begun to despair because he has never truly found his niche.
