Religious freedom has played an important role in the nation and state. Because of the freedom guaranteed by the United States Constitution, a colorful array of denominations and sects have arisen. One group, the Pentecostals, have been called the ''Third force in Protestantism." Of this group the Assemblies of God are the largest, not only nationally and world-wide, but also in Arkansas. In fact, the Arkansas District of the Assemblies of God is the largest district per capital of any of the Assemblies of God Districts in the United States.

Churches have been involved in the moral and ethical standards of the United States and its political subdivisions since the formation of the nation. In this study an analysis had been made of the Executive Board of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. The investigation was limited to eight specific problems. The problems discussed are: (1) composition of the Board, (2) requisites for membership on the Board, (3) women on the Board, (4) personnel of the Board, (5) organization of the Board, (6) meetings of the Board, (7) duties of the Board, and (8) report of the Board.

In the examination of these problems an attempt was made to discover and to present relevant factual information derived from available primary sources.

The purpose of this thesis was to gather and to get in readable form information on the origin, life, personalities, and developments of the Pickles Gap Baptist Church in Faulkner County, Arkansas. The procedure took four lines: (1) a summary history from around 1878 to the present by families, (2) a review of the organizational and functional development, (3) a listing of family contributions to the work of the church, and (4) a resume of contributions by pastors.

The church began in 1878 as the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. In 1921 the name was changed to Pickles Gap Baptist Church …
