Secularization In The Centralization Of The Cult In Deuteronomy, Marvin Huggins Nov 1969

Secularization In The Centralization Of The Cult In Deuteronomy, Marvin Huggins

Master of Divinity Thesis

Since the discussion of secularization has important implications for the Church today, I have undertaken to delve into the matter to discover how much support this idea has among Old Testament scholars. In this research I have discovered that there has been a wide divergence of opinion in regard to the centralization of the cult in Deuteronomy. There are differing views as to when it might have taken place and even as to whether it took place at all. In dealing with the matter of cult centralization from the point of view of its effect on the life of the …

The Bread Of Life Discourse In John 6: A Survey Of Select Literature, Ronald Jones Nov 1969

The Bread Of Life Discourse In John 6: A Survey Of Select Literature, Ronald Jones

Master of Divinity Thesis

A paper of this type also has numerous presuppositions. The paper assumes, for the purpose of discussion, that one may legitimately treat the entire discourse and that there is no need to discard smaller or larger units because of the form-critical process and its conclusions. If one were to treat the positions of the form critics regarding this chapter of John, either as a whole or in terms of its parts, one could easily write another paper on that topic alone.

A Study Of Omoiωma In Romans 6:5, John Bauer Nov 1969

A Study Of Omoiωma In Romans 6:5, John Bauer

Bachelor of Divinity

It is the purpose of this paper to review some of the answers that theologians have proposed to these questions. A further objective, on the basis of the proposed solutions to the problem, is an attempt to formulate a statement of what St. Paul did mean by this word (if this is possible!),and then to suggest some further areas of study which appear’ essential for a satisfactory determination of the meaning and force of ὄμοίωμα.

Some Investigations And Interpretations Of The Parable Of The Unjust Steward, Don Fahrenbrink Nov 1969

Some Investigations And Interpretations Of The Parable Of The Unjust Steward, Don Fahrenbrink

Bachelor of Divinity

The purpose of this paper will be to present a brief and comparative overview of the most significant previous investigations and interpretations of the Parable of the Unjust Steward. This study is not an attempt to draw up a chronological history of how the parable has been interpreted in past eras. When older interpretations are incorporated it is for the sake of historical perspective or because they are significant. The life situations- which may have prompted a certain view have largely been omitted. Neither has a conscious effort been made to include a study of hermeneutical principles. The present paper …

The Secret Of God's Plan: Studies In Ephesians, Martin H. Scharlemann Sep 1969

The Secret Of God's Plan: Studies In Ephesians, Martin H. Scharlemann

Concordia Theological Monthly

Verse 9 of chapter 1 of Ephesians provides a good general tide to highlight one basic theological emphasis of the letter. There the Greek, literally translated, makes reference to "the mystery of His will." The Revised Standard Version in this case retains just that wording from the Authorized Version.
