The West Virginia State Documents are a collection of documents published by various state entities from the state’s inception to today. This includes publications from a variety of public departments as well as the state legislature. The collection includes newsletters, maps, pamphlets, legislative bills, reports, and more.

This collection consists of a copy of the narration for the four-part documentary "West Virginia," produced by WNP-TV (Morgantown) public television; accompanied by classroom teacher's guide prepared by Osterman Associates. The narration covers only briefly the life of Native Americans living on the land that would become West Virginia, but focuses on the settlement of West Virginia by Europeans to the 1920s.

This collection is composed of Amy Hudok’s collected materials about Edwina Pepper, principally, scanned copies of “The Mountain Call” on CD and a manuscript titled, “Writings of Edwina Pepper” about her experiences in Appalachia. included in the collection is a clipping on Edwina S. Pepper from the “West Virginia Hillbilly” and research notes listing contacts that knew Pepper.

This collection consists of 105 oral histories conducted at the behest of the Matewan Development Center, Inc.. Oral histories are on cassette tapes and include transcripts of the oral histories and floppy disks with some of the transcripts saved on them. The oral histories focus on Matewan history, especially labor issues and conflicts surrounding the Matewan Massacre as well as customs and life in Matewan.

This collection consists of a microfilm copy of items selected by Elizabeth Cometti about West Virginia taken from the Southern Historical Collection at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, specifically materials taken from the W. R. Redding Papers, 1861-1865 and the William Thomas Sutherlin Papers, 1842-1892. The Redding materials are from 1861 while Redding was stationed in Virginia, to his wife, Elizabeth M. Redding, in Randolph County, Ga.. He discusses camp life, troop movements and skirmishes, and conditions at home. Sutherlin materials date from 1868 to 1869 and may include correspondence and other papers relate to the varied business …

This collection contains papers relating to Harlow’s work on “Beckley, U.S.A.”. They include photographs of people and places around Beckley (both identified and unidentified), mock-ups of front matter for the never completed fourth volume of “Beckley, U.S.A.”, printed materials and ephemera related to Beckley institutions or history.

Other materials include personal papers consisting of short form fiction snippets, a newspaper clipping file related to “Beckley, U.S.A.” and Beckley history, correspondence related to the donation of the collection, and genealogical materials.
