Finding aid only for Folklife Archives Project 1202. Collection of papers written by students in Professor Barry Kaufkins’ Foodways class (FLK/ANTH 388) at Western Kentucky University. While a majority of the papers focus on Easter traditions, other topics of note include immigrant foodways traditions, fundraising efforts, community organizations, tailgating, and sorority life. Papers also include photographs taken by students.

Finding aid for Manuscripts Collection 439. Correspondence, writings, scrapbooks, and financial records of Kentucky native and poet Jessie Wilmore Murton. Although born and raised in Kentucky, she spent most of her adult life in Battle Creek, Michigan. Her poetry and prose was published in several solo books and anthologies and appeared extensively in religious publications of the mid-twentieth century. An Annotated Bibliography.” This collection consists of an annotated bibliography complied by Eleonore Beck Mitchell for a folklore genres class at Western Kentucky University. The collection offers a brief historical account of Shrovetide and Carnival and their connection to Catholicism. The bibliography contains a total of 168 bibliographic entries and annotations for 97 of those entries.

In the interview Pannell discusses her life in Greenville, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. She talks about teachers and teaching, schools, education, politics, health care, World War I, World War II, Influenza, radios, B. Mathis, coal mines and mining, strikes, telephones, vigilantism, Prohibition, rationing and religion.
