The indoor-outdoor relationship has been important to mankind since the dawn of recorded history. Over the ages, and despite continual changes in culture, style and technology, the relationship has continued to endure and play an important role in the design and construction of both interior and exterior spaces. Despite its continued relevance little research has been done on the relationship.

The purpose of this project is to document the historical record and current condition of the Guinavah Amphitheater in Logan Canyon, Cache County, Utah. The information collected will be helpful in ongoing efforts by the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) to stabilize and preserve an excellent example of Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) era construction on the Wasatch Cache National Forest. It is also hoped that the assembled research will contribute to the listing of this site with the Historic American Landscapes Survey (HALS), housed at the Library of Congress.

The United Methodist Church Campus project site is located at 1200 E. South Weber Drive in Ogden Utah. The planning for this project started in 1998 and will continue for several years to come (Appendix A). I was asked as a student of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning at Utah State University to prepare an illustrative schematic master plan for the project site. The following document will provide my findings upon doing a site inventory and analysis as well as a master plan for the Community United Methodist Church (CUMC).

Such is the present case of Beirut, Lebanon. As the city recovers from years of civil war it strives to create a new identity, re-establishing the city's presence in the region.

The Providence River Relocation project in Rhode Island’s capital city redirected rivers, overhauled transit infrastructure, and created a new riverfront downtown. Thirty years in the making, the relocation of the Woonasquatucket and Moshassuck rivers, construction of a new rail station, highway interchanges, and twelve bridges restored historical links among Providence’s Capital Center, College Hill, and downtown. The project improved traffic flow in and through downtown and added pedestrian-friendly spaces, including 1.5 miles of river walks, along with a new urban park including a restaurant, amphitheater, fountain, and boat landing.

Here was an opportunity to be immersed in another culture, observe their ideals, aspirations and participate in their routines. The academic experience was a benefit to my scholastic career witnessing different approaches to problem solving and how the professors guided the students to innovative solutions.
