The rise in urban temperatures is a significant threat to the urban heat island effect, increasing building energy demand. This increase is worrisome because the supply of renewable energy is a big challenge. The approach to improving the urban microclimate offers a promising solution. This research investigates the concurrent effect of urban morphological parameters and physical characteristics of urban surfaces, such as cool materials, on the urban microclimate near the building's facades in an urban street. The study considers the Dawei Special Economic Zone (DSEZ) project, which was a land formalization case in a sovereignty-contested area conducted by de jure Myanmar state, de facto Karen Nation Union (KNU), and an international developer. The DSEZ project planning comprised deep-sea Ports, 250 sq. kms of industrial estate zone, and the two-lane 148 km road linking Dawei in Myanmar and Kanchanaburi Province of Thailand as its main features. Indoor environmental quality (IEQ) has become an important component of building design because people tend to spend the majority of their time indoors. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the occupants’ overall perceived Quality of Life (QoL) experience in two green and two non-green office buildings. All four buildings are situated in Klang Valley, Malaysia, and they are open-plan office buildings. 162 questionnaires were administered to assess the relationship between individuals' perceived QoL and IEQ factors. This research investigates practical methods to improve the efficiency of natural ventilation in residential units of multi-family high-rises without additional areas. Typical studio- and one-bedroom-types of small units were redesigned using: 1) air post, 2) transom window, 3) buffer space with one corridor opening and 4) buffer space with two corridor openings. The simulation study using a CFD program to reveal that the indoor average air velocity coefficient (Cv ) in the best redesigned case (0.46) significantly improves from the base case (0.01). The main deterrent to the adoption of cycling for transportation is the lack of safe and connected infrastructure. This thesis explores and compares the case studies of Paris and Bogotá, where cycling modal shares grew significantly within the last decade. ชุมชนที่เลือกมาศึกษา คือ ชุมชนริมคลองตำมะลัง จังหวัดสตูล ซึ่งเป็นชุมชนที่ติดกับชายแดนส่วนใต้สุดของประเทศไทยฝั่งทะเลอันดามัน ด้านตะวันตกติดกับพื้นที่ทางตอนเหนือสุดของประเทศมาเลเซีย ได้แก่ ปะลิส เกดะห์ ปีนังและเปรัก นับได้ว่าเป็นต้นกำเนิดของเรือนมลายูในแถบชายฝั่งทะเลอันดามัน งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์หลัก 3 ประการประกอบด้วย (1) เพื่อทำความเข้าใจเรือนพื้นถิ่นมลายูในชุมชนริมคลองตำมะลัง ในเรื่องสภาพแวดล้อมและที่ตั้ง สถาปัตยกรรม และประโยชน์ใช้สอย (2) เพื่อระบุคุณค่าและความแท้ของเรือนพื้นถิ่นมลายู (3) ศึกษาปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงของเรือนพื้นถิ่นมลายู เพื่อเสนอแนวทางการอนุรักษ์และฟื้นฟูเรือน วิธีวิจัยประกอบด้วย การเก็บข้อมูลภาคเอกสารเพื่อเป็นข้อมูลพื้นฐานในการอ้างอิงถึงลักษณะของเรือนพื้นถิ่นมลายู และการเก็บข้อมูลภาคสนามด้วยวิธีการสัมภาษณ์ สำรวจ รังวัด บันทึกภาพ งานวิจัยนี้เลือกเรือนพื้นถิ่นมลายูที่มีอายุ 100 ปี ถึงเรือนที่มีอายุ 40 ปี ที่ยังแสดงถึงอัตลักษณ์ของเรือนมาเป็นกรณีศึกษา ต่อมา ข้อมูลที่เก็บมาได้จะถูกนำมาวิเคราะห์เพื่อจัดแบ่งประเภทของเรือน ผลสรุปที่ได้ คือ ความเข้าใจคุณค่าและการเปลี่ยนแปลงของเรือนพื้นถิ่นมลายู รวมถึงปัจจัยที่นำไปสู่ความเปลี่ยนแปลงและการปรับตัวของพื้นที่ชุมชนริมคลองตำมะลัง จากการประเมินคุณค่าและสัมภาษณ์ผู้อาศัยในพื้นที่ การอนุรักษ์เรือนควรคำนึงถึงการใช้วัสดุที่เหมาะสม รักษาคุณค่าของเรือน ตลอดจนปรับการใช้สอยเรือนให้รองรับการใช้งานในปัจจุบัน

Collecting feedback from people in indoor and outdoor environments is traditionally challenging and complex to achieve in a reliable, longitudinal, and non-intrusive way. This paper introduces Cozie Apple, an open-source mobile and smartwatch application for iOS devices. This platform allows people to complete a watch-based micro-survey and provide real-time feedback about environmental conditions via their Apple Watch. It leverages the inbuilt sensors of the smartwatch to collect physiological (e.g., heart rate, activity) and environmental (sound level) data. This case study describes an academic library’s student-developed communal space for the purposes of creating, collaborating, and project development. The story begins with an exciting process and partnership developed between University of Dayton (UD) Libraries and UD’s Institute of Applied Creativity for Transformation (IACT). An IACT experiential learning program led 12 students to research and reimagine the role of the campus library, which resulted in Concourse D, “where projects take flight,” a prototyped transdisciplinary project development studio.
