This article proposes an alternative to develop agro-cultural tourism routes based on spatial configuration analysis. A village growing rubber trees in Songkhla Province, Thailand, was taken as the case study. The data analysis involved the theory of urban morphology and the space syntax. Given the characteristics of the area and the planters' socio-cultural characteristics, the results revealed that potential tourist attractions should be charted only on a movement network with high visibility and accessibility whereas those on a movement network with low visibility and accessibility should be left intact. However, the existing daylight glare formulae do not take the effects of age into account and the current limiting glare index was obtained from non-elderly subjects. Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) features are increasingly used for urban water management, green urban design, and improved community liveability, but relatively less data are available on the ecosystem services that WSUD provides. We used hedonic pricing, supported by qualitative surveys, in Geelong, Australia and Singapore, to evaluate benefits related to large WSUD features. For both locations there was a significant (α=0.05) inverse relationship between the sales price of a residence and distance to the WSUD features. Qualitative surveys corroborated the hedonic pricing analysis, as a majority of people appreciated benefits accrued from living near WSUD features.

A buildings' glazed facades influence their inhabited occupants in terms of thermal comfort and discomfort glare. This study aims to clarify the correlation between them in a tropical context. The field study was performed in office spaces in Thailand using comfort indices evaluation, i.e. the predicted mean vote (PMV) and daylight glare probability (DGP), and questionnaire surveys to investigate local occupants' feedback. The statistical approaches indicated that the agreement between thermal comfort and discomfort glare variables could be observed with a glazing performance rating of the buildings and the occupants' sensation level. In discussion on modern urban development issues, many researches have focused on those newly expanded areas, yet few researches have scrutinized what contributes to the vibrant life of the historical Central Business District (CBD) in inner cities. This research has examined a declined old city centre in central Taiwan by deploying Space Syntax analysis to verify possible contributions of parts-whole street network disconnection to the death of CBD in inner cities. The research findings suggest that linearity and critical street segments being properly integrated with the whole arterial street network could be crucial for future city planning.

Many countries propose indoor temperature set-points of air-conditioned offices to be comfortably sustainable and to reduce energy consumption. Even though there are recommendations for the optimum temperature-set-points, it is questionable how those values could be applied to the actual situation in a tropical region. This study aims to survey thermal performance and estimate thermal comfort in different set-points. In 2019, two air-conditioned office buildings were tested by increasing set-points from the actual value between 23 °C and 25 °C. This paper aims to examine a prospect of disaster education and community development in Thailand focusing on a traditional waterfront community, named Hua Takhe. It explores the program and participation as well as meaning and implication of the Japanese cases through observations. Based on the analysis of questionnaire surveys, the strengths of the Hua Takhe community include solidarity, human, cultural, and educational resources. The objective of this study is to develop guidelines for thermal comfort and energy efficiency for senior centers during winter. The study was conducted in Phitsanulok, Thailand and it three methods were applied in development of the guidelines: field survey, laboratory study, and simulation in scSTREAM - a CFD program -- and Visual DOE 4.0 program. With a temperature set-point of 25.0 °C in the existing air-conditioned senior centers, the study shows that occupants feel "Slightly cool". พื้นที่เมืองเก่าเป็นสถานที่ที่แสดงถึงอัตลักษณ์ที่สืบต่อกันมาอย่างยาวนานของประเทศไทยโดยเฉพาะงานสถาปัตยกรรม ที่ปัจจุบันเกิดความทรุดโทรมไปตามกาลเวลา การปรับปรุงสีอาคารเป็นวิธีการหนึ่งที่ทำได้ง่ายและใช้งบประมาณน้อยกว่าวิธีอื่น ซึ่งการเลือกใช้สีและวัสดุให้มีความเหมาะสมนั้นเป็นสิ่งสำคัญ งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาและรวบรวมชุดสีองค์ประกอบทางสถาปัตยกรรมของอาคารพาณิชย์ที่แสดงถึงอัตลักษณ์และลักษณะความกลมกลืนทางด้านสีของพื้นที่เมืองเก่าสงขลา โดยเก็บข้อมูลด้วยระบบดิจิตอลจากภาพถ่ายอาคารผ่านโปรแกรม Adobe Photoshop CS6 เพื่อหาค่าความถี่ของสีจากอาคารจำนวน 523 หลัง บนถนนหลักทั้ง 3 เส้นของเมืองเก่าสงขลา ผลแสดงให้เห็นว่าสีเทา สีขาวและสีน้ำตาล เป็นสีที่มีการใช้ในองค์ประกอบอาคารมากที่สุด โดยเมื่อนำมาวิเคราะห์ร่วมกับสถานที่สำคัญในพื้นที่ทำให้ทราบถึงชุดสีที่แสดงถึงอัตลักษณ์ ได้แก่ สีขาว สีเทาอ่อนที่มีการเจือด้วยสีฟ้า สีเทากลางและสีแดง นอกจากนี้ยังพบว่าค่าความสดของสีอาคารส่วนใหญ่อยู่ในช่วงร้อยละ 0-20 มีค่าความสว่างของสีอยู่ในช่วงกว้างตั้งแต่ร้อยละ 21-100 และชุดสีที่มีการใช้มากที่สุดคือการใช้สีเดียว (Monochrome) การใช้สีคู่ตรงข้าม (Complementary) และการใช้สีที่อยู่ใกล้เคียงกัน (Analogous) ตามลำดับ งานวิจัยนี้ได้ผนวกทิศทางของแสงและตำแหน่งอาคารมาใช้ร่วมกับการเก็บค่าสีอาคาร โดยช่วยให้ได้ค่าสีที่มีความใกล้เคียงกับสีอาคารในภาพถ่ายมากขึ้น และยังเป็นแนวทางในการเลือกใช้สีให้กับเจ้าของอาคารและหน่วยงานที่ต้องการส่งเสริมภาพลักษณ์ในพื้นที่ ในท้ายที่สุดงานวิจัยชิ้นนี้ได้เสนอให้มีการเก็บค่าสีจากมุมสูงของพื้นที่ และการวิเคราะห์ค่าสีและค่าความสดของสี ร่วมกับทิศทางของแสงและตำแหน่งอาคารอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ

This article presents the latest improvements in a recently developed nondestructive testing (NDT) approach for early detection of various flaws (corrosion, delamination, and concrete cracking) in reinforced concrete (RC) bridge decks. These uncertainties put projects at risk of being unable to fulfill annual debt repayment obligations. Bayview Hunters Point is at the epicenter of environmental justice issues in San Francisco. The district has historically been the location of the city’s most polluting industries, as well as some of its poorest residents and its greatest concentration of public housing. This work investigates the benefits of performing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) using Building Information Modelling (BIM) techniques on a case study management process. This provides insights for reducing the environmental impacts of building materials and elements along the life cycle of a concrete residential project in Egypt. The study follows the LCA ISO 14040 and 14044 guidelines, local materials database, Revit modelling and One-Click LCA plugin. ปัจจุบัน พื้นที่ประวัติศาสตร์ของหลายเมืองมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงลักษณะทางกายภาพ ซึ่งหากพิจารณาจากลักษณะทางกายภาพเพียงอย่างเดียวอาจเป็นเรื่องยากต่อการรับรู้คุณค่าและความสำคัญขององค์ประกอบเมือง ทั้งนี้ เมืองอุบลราชธานีเป็นหนึ่งตัวอย่างของการเปลี่ยนแปลงภูมิทัศน์เมืองประวัติศาสตร์ ปรากฏความหลากหลายของรูปแบบสถาปัตยกรรมและวิถีชีวิตของคนในสังคม คุณลักษณะเช่นนี้แสดงให้เห็นว่าในพื้นที่ประวัติศาสตร์เมืองมีชั้นประวัติศาสตร์หลายชั้นซ้อนทับกันอยู่และอยู่ร่วมกันมาตั้งแต่ตั้งถิ่นฐานจนถึงปัจจุบัน วิทยานิพนธ์นี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาพัฒนาการของคุณลักษณะเมืองอุบลราชธานี และวิเคราะห์คุณค่าและความสำคัญขององค์ประกอบต่าง ๆ เพื่อเป็นฐานความเข้าใจสำหรับการวางแผนอนุรักษ์และพัฒนาเมืองอย่างสมดุลและยั่งยืน โดยใช้ทฤษฎีภูมิทัศน์เมืองประวัติศาสตร์เป็นกรอบและแนวทางสำหรับการศึกษาเมืองอย่างเป็นองค์รวม และใช้ทฤษฎีที่เกี่ยวข้องกับสถานที่เพื่อทำความเข้าใจมุมมองของคนที่อยู่ในพื้นที่ต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงลักษณะทางกายภาพ ผลการศึกษาพบว่าพัฒนาการของเมืองส่งผลต่อภูมิทัศน์เมืองในปัจจุบัน ดังนั้น การทำความเข้าใจคุณค่าและความสำคัญจึงต้องพิจารณาทั้งมิติที่เป็นรูปธรรมและนามธรรมควบคู่กันไป เพื่อให้มิติที่คงอยู่ช่วยอธิบายประวัติศาสตร์ของเมืองภายใต้การเปลี่ยนแปลงที่เกิดขึ้น ทั้งนี้ มุมมองของคนในจากพื้นที่กรณีศึกษาสะท้อนให้เห็นว่า นอกเหนือจากลักษณะทางกายภาพแล้ว คนในให้ความสำคัญกับสิ่งที่พวกเขาผูกพันจากมิติอื่นที่เกี่ยวข้อง เช่น ความเชื่อ สังคม การใช้งาน เป็นต้น ซึ่งประโยชน์ที่ได้รับจากการศึกษาครั้งนี้คือกระบวนการสำหรับการทำความเข้าใจเมืองและข้อเสนอแนะแนวทางการอนุรักษ์และพัฒนาสำหรับเมืองประวัติศาสตร์ที่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างเป็นองค์รวม

โครงสร้างไม้ไผ่ประกับกาวและไม้ยางพาราวัสดุโครงสร้างผสม 2x4 นิ้ว สำหรับหน่วยพักอาศัย, ศวิษฐ์ พิริยะสุรวงศ์

ไม้ประกับกาวเป็นเทคโนโลยีที่เข้ามาเพื่อทดแทนความต้องการไม้หน้ากว้าง ซึ่งมีจำนวนทรัพยากรลดน้อยลง ประเทศไทยยังคงมีการพัฒนาไม้ประกับกาวในรูปแบบ "Glued laminated timber" ตั้งแต่ ค.ศ.1971 จนถึงปัจจุบัน ซึ่งเป็นการนำไม้มาเรียงต่อกันเป็นชั้นในทิศทางเดียว เพื่อเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพความแข็งแรงในการนำมาใช้เป็นโครงสร้าง นอกจากทรัพยากรไม้ในพื้นที่ป่าเบญจพรรณในประเทศไทย ยังมี "ไผ่" ซึ่งถือวัสดุทางเลือกที่คนให้ความสนใจในหลายมิติ การนำไผ่มาใช้สามารถเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพความแข็งแรงของไม้ประกับกาว รวมถึงเป็นการทดแทนอัตราการใช้ไม้ในระบบป่าอุตสาหกรรมให้เกิดความเพียงพอต่อจำนวนทรัพยากรในประเทศไทย วิทยานิพนธ์เล่มนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ 1) เพื่อศึกษาคุณสมบัติเชิงกลของวัสดุผสมไม้ไผ่ประกับกาวและไม้ยางพารา ขนาด 2x4 นิ้ว 2) เพื่อสร้างต้นแบบวัสดุผสมไม้ไผ่ประกับกาวและไม้ยางพารา ขนาด 2x4 นิ้ว 3) เพื่อสรุปแนวทางมาตรฐานวัสดุผสมไม้ไผ่ประกับกาวและไม้ยางพารา ขนาด 2x4 นิ้ว ซึ่งมีกระบวนการวิจัยดังนี้ 1) ศึกษาพัฒนาการไม้ประกับกาว และไม้อัดประสาน ในระดับนานาชาติ และในประเทศไทย 2) ศึกษาคุณสมบัติเชิงกลของไม้ไผ่ประกับกาวและไม้ยางพาราวัสดุผสม สำหรับหน่วยพักอาศัยด้วยวิธีการทดสอบในห้องทดลอง และกระบวนการวิเคราะห์ "Finite elements analysis" 3) ประยุกต์ใช้วัสดุผสมไม้ไผ่และไม้ยางพาราประกับกาว 2x4 นิ้ว เป็นต้นแบบโครงสร้างใหม่สำหรับหน่วยพักอาศัย แบบ 1 ชั้น ขนาดพื้นที่ 24 ตารางเมตร หน้ากว้างอาคาร 5.00 เมตร ลึก 4.80 เมตร จากการศึกษาพบว่าวัสดุผสมไม้ไผ่ประกับกาวและไม้ยางพารา ขนาด 2x4 นิ้ว สามารถใช้เป็นโครงสร้างทดแทนไม้ยางพาราประกับกาวขนาด 2x6 นิ้ว ในรูปแบบการก่อสร้างแบบเดิม ในส่วนของตงพื้น แม้ว่าคุณสมบัติของไม้ยางพาราจะมีระยะยุบตัวน้อยกว่าวัสดุผสมไม้ไผ่ประกับกาวและไม้ยางพารา 0.33141 mm. หรือคิดเป็น 27.96 % รูปแบบวัสดุผสมไม้ไผ่และไม้ยางพาราประกับกาวที่สอดคล้องกับระบบอุตสาหกรรมไม้ในประเทศไทย การก่อสร้างหน่วยพักอาศัยด้วยวัสดุผสมไม้ไผ่และไม้ยางพาราประกับกาวพบว่ารูปแบบโครงสร้างที่ใช้วัสดุผสมไม้ไผ่และไม้ยางพาราประกับกาว สามารถลดส่วนประกอบของอาคารได้แก่ การใช้ผนังรับน้ำหนักแทนเสา การลดส่วนประกอบของหลังคาในขณะที่ยังสามารถสนับสนุนการรับน้ำหนักวัสดุมุงหลังคาได้ รูปแบบโครงสร้างวัสดุผสมไม้ไผ่และไม้ยางพาราประกับกาวสำหรับหน่วยพักอาศัย ยังสามารถลดปริมาณไม้จากที่ใช้ไม้คิดเป็นปริมาตรไม้จาก 72.44 ลูกบาศก์ฟุต เหลือเพียง 46.40 ลูกบาศก์ฟุต และลดระยะเวลาในการก่อสร้างหน่วยพักอาศัยได้ 20% เมื่อเทียบกับรูปแบบการก่อสร้างแบบเดิม
