Evaluating The Role Of Building Information Modeling (Bim) In Minimizing Delays And Reducing Costs In Construction Projects, Hussein Elsayed Mohamed Ismail, Mohammad Ahmad Mohammad Abdulhadi
Journal of Engineering Research
The implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) as a construction industry technology delivers extensive effects on project duration and financial management. This investigation examines BIM as a technology specifically designed to cut down construction project delays and decrease expenditures. The scholarly review of existing research material through a secondary approach allows this study to identify BIM's major value contributions.
The implementation of BIM technology enables project schedules to reach improved accuracy which results in a reduction of project delays by 15-25% because of its automation features and effective clash detection and real-time coordination benefits. The application of building information modeling …
Experimental And Analytical Study On Shear Bond Behaviour Of Lightweight Concrete Composite Deck Slab With Shear Connectors, Mohaned Mohy El-Deen Hassan, Khaled Abdullah Gharib, Hanan Hussain Altobgy
Experimental And Analytical Study On Shear Bond Behaviour Of Lightweight Concrete Composite Deck Slab With Shear Connectors, Mohaned Mohy El-Deen Hassan, Khaled Abdullah Gharib, Hanan Hussain Altobgy
Journal of Engineering Research
This study investigates the bond strength between lightweight concrete and steel elements in composite deck slabs, with a focus on enhancing bond performance through the use of shear connectors. The primary objective was to improve the interface behavior between lightweight concrete and steel corrugated sheets by introducing shear connectors between the composite slab and supporting steel beams. Both experimental and analytical methods were employed. Experimentally, twelve lightweight concrete specimens were fabricated and divided into two groups: one without shear connectors and the other with shear connectors. Each group was further classified into specimens with long and short spans. These specimens …

Evaluating Energy Efficiency And Thermal Performance In Egypt’S Social Housing: Climate-Responsive Design And Material Impact In Hot Desert Environments, Ahmed M. Hanafi, Mohamed A. Moawed, Osama E. Abdullatif
Journal of Engineering Research
As Egypt's urban areas expand rapidly, the demand for energy-efficient, affordable housing in extreme hot desert climates has become increasingly urgent. This study investigates the energy efficiency and thermal performance of Egypt’s Social Housing Project, with a focus on residential building in New Aswan City, where summer temperatures frequently exceed 45°C. Employing a validated energy model, this research simulates annual energy consumption for the building, which comprises 24 residential units, each approximately 86 m². The model integrates realistic occupancy schedules, region-specific weather data, and common household behavior patterns to closely reflect actual energy usage. Findings indicate a high alignment between …
Influence Of Concrete Jacketing On The Performance Of Steel Columns Under Blast Induced Progressive Collapse, Hanan Eltobgy Prof., Mohamed Saeed Refaey Dr., Mohamed Ahmed Aboshok Dr., Ahmed Emadel-Din Abdel-Aal Eng.
Influence Of Concrete Jacketing On The Performance Of Steel Columns Under Blast Induced Progressive Collapse, Hanan Eltobgy Prof., Mohamed Saeed Refaey Dr., Mohamed Ahmed Aboshok Dr., Ahmed Emadel-Din Abdel-Aal Eng.
Journal of Engineering Research
This study investigates the influence of concrete jacketing on the performance of steel columns subjected to blast loading, which can lead to progressive collapse. Using Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations, the research evaluates concrete-encased steel columns with different concrete cover thicknesses to measure their resistance to lateral displacements induced by blasts. Findings reveal that increasing the thickness of the concrete cover markedly improves the column's ability to withstand such loads. The study also highlights that steel has better energy dissipation properties than concrete. It examines how the combined challenges of progressive collapse and blast loading influence the overall structural response …

3d Printing Technology: Challenges, And Potentials In Achieving Sustainable Buildings, Sahar Mohamed Abd El Rahman, Sobhy Ibrahim Esmail
Journal of Engineering Research
The utilization of 3D printing technology in building construction has emerged as a promising approach with the potential to revolutionize the industry and significantly impact sustainability. This paper examines the role of 3D printing in building construction and explores its implications for sustainability. Through the ability to fabricate complex designs with precision and efficiency, 3D printing offers advantages such as reduced material waste, lower energy consumption, and decreased carbon emissions. Additionally, the use of locally sourced, recyclable materials combined with the customization capabilities of 3D printing enhances resource efficiency and minimizes environmental impact. Furthermore, the construction process is streamlined, leading …

Architecture reflects a nation’s cultural, social, and environmental characteristics. As a result of the recent globalization, countries have lost their distinctive architectural identities; due to this, it is difficult to identify A country’s unique identity locally and regionally. Specifically, in Egypt, houses in the traditional style are considered one of the most iconic architectural styles. There is an amazing local identity and a unique spatial quality in the region that characterizes Egypt. On the other hand, Western influences have caused many of the values and attributes of houses to fade. One of the most prominent values is the home’s loss …

At the beginning of the current century , and with the development of computer technology , a new system based on three-dimensional drawings and modeling appeared with an accurate definition and description of all the elements in the submitted design , with the big development of construction methods and the advancement of the related technology and software, the advantages of the new system were defined and became more specific and relied in many organizations , companies and in design and construction institutions , and this system was called the building information modeling (BIM) .
Despite the importance of the system …
