Housing projects have been increasing rapidly during the previous years to fulfil community needs and achieve the national and international sustainable development objectives. Due to their nature, housing projects generate a significant amount of waste that accounts for approximately 40% of the solid waste that the construction industry generates annually. Many of these wastes are a result of inappropriate decisions adopted during the design process such as using non-sustainable materials and inefficient use of natural recourses. Using digital data necessarily involves software. How do institutions think about software in the context of the long-term usability of their data assets? How do they address usability challenges uniquely posed by software such as, license restrictions, legacy software, code rot, and dependencies? These questions are germane to the agenda set forth by the FAIR principles. At Yale University, a team in the Library is looking into the application of a novel approach to emulation as a potential solution. This research examines the design of tiny homes and the importance they play in the lives of those that would usually have not been able to afford a house. The research will also focus on designing a tiny home with the use of design software to fully understand the extent of the characteristics of a tiny home. The design of these small dwellings, usually about 400-500 square feet, allows for a minimalist lifestyle that can be very low cost. The authority responsible for formulating monetary policies in Nigeria has focused more on the oil and gas sector while other sectors such as the property sector have not been given their deserved attention with regards to monetary policy formulation. Hence, this study examined the impact of monetary policy rate on the Nigerian property market. It was revealed that the key economic indicators that are relevant to the real estate sector includes interest rate, (monetary policy instrument), GDP, exchange rate , inflation rate as well as international oil price. How Acoustics In California High Performance Schools Relate To Student Achievement, Devin K. Wong

Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research

This research project seeks to determine if students attending K–12 schools meeting a minimum standard of high performance classroom conditions in the state of California do evidence higher scholastic achievement, based on publically available results on state-wide standardized tests. In three phases, a subset of 200+ schools applying for grants dedicated to building high performance schools over the past decade was correlated with an existing database of achievement scores for all public schools in California.
