This artist village explores the idea of the individual and their relationship to the whole. The project delineates individual and community spaces through their separations and connections. The goal is a more diverse engagement of all members of the community.

The concept of sustainable design has been one of increasing interest with regards to both personal choices and desire to reduce human impacts on the environment. This paper looks at the concept of sustainable housing design and why it is important. Particularly, it focuses on sustainable housing designs and materials that the McLean County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity can incorporate into the construction of its homes. This paper investigates three types of sustainable construction materials, flooring, cabinetry, and paints that Habitat for Humanity could incorporate into its homes.

The city of Mocha in Yemen was one of the most important Red Sea ports of the early modern Arab world, handling the trade of spices, textiles, metals, local aromatics and coffee beans. This essay examines the urban structures that governed the needs and practices of merchants in the city during the first half of the eighteenth century. The multi-unit dwellings are positioned at a lake in a beautiful park in Warsaw. The horizontal profile of the rhythmically-placed units raise upward and lower downward to resonate with the undulating profiles of the trees. Design work from the 1982 fall semester, Studio Martin Price, School of Architecture, The University of Texas at Arlington. Housing. Randol Byrd and Kevin Crumpler. The Arlington housing project is an urban model which creates lyrical form by subtracting volumes of space from an overall sloping roof plane. It is making "hollow in bump." The diagonal line creates a basic order of form in this multi-unit project. Subtle folds of the sloping roof, together with the bending of walls, create a natural, meandering rhythmic order. Stepped windows intersect stepped solid areas below the windows, to form a yin-yang relationship.
